Delicious, developing some brulee/aged notes, showing a bit of creaminess on palate to complement the acid/mineral/citrus.

Exploring french whites with seafood in Oleron island : Blind tasting for my guests. Nose closed unspecific. Mouth with a nice personnality, fresh, with light residual sugar, light white flowers, good balance. The residual sugar disturb me, it is not what I'm looking for a Sancerre.

Infusion of tea and lemon grass on the nose. Crackling fruit on the palate with an intense core, great focus and grip on the back. Vibrant and singing. 50 + 17 + 17 + 8 = 92.

Crisp aromas of green apple, quince, with a slight note of fresh cut hay. Pure deep fruit on the palate with great drive and energy, sparkling acids, and a long finish. Exuberant yet precise. 50 + 16 + 17 + 8 = 91.

Shy but complex nose of lemon, dry stalks, spring water, with a hint of hot red pepper. Intense focus and grip on the palate with a penetrating dose of fruit melting into a clear ringing acid finish. 50 + 17 + 17 + 8 = 92.

Served with sauteed soft shell crabs, herb pesto, pasta. Just superb. Beautifully crafted wine, lovely rich mineral core, citrus/lemon, slight gooseberry, softer fruit notes, layer of floral honey, balanced to perfection. Rich and long lasting palate, clean and true. Delightful and compelling, and with all that still subtle. Given reviews from a year + ago, I'd say the bottle time has done good things for an already fine wine.

Pale yellow. Aromas of cut hay, lemon rind, sea air, river rock. Vibrant core of fruit on the palate with a rippling acid frame, spreading at the back at the back long echoing acid finish. A soul-satisfying energizing wine at the end of a long day. Lovely. 50 + 16 + 18 + 9.

Lacked the crispness and stony character that I traditionally associated with Sancerre. Middle and finish included a sour note reminiscent of sour beer or farmhouse ales. Maybe flawed bottle?

Bags of character; retains a sptrotz; lively, fresh, vivacious. Thoroughly enjoyable, with no overt showiness.

What a pretty wine in a pretty place. Round but not at all flabby with sufficient acidity to carry it. A near golden yellow with plenty of apricot, fig, cream corn and white grapefruit notes in the bouquet and palate. Such a pleasant wine and good QPR (especially for tax week) from a difficult year. 12.5% alc. With chevre, manchago and other white wine friendly cheeses and ham. Recommended.

Very pale with a green hue. The elegantly restrained nose is a kaleidoscope of nuances of all the classic Sancerre aromas: gooseberry, grapefruit, flint, smoke and sea spray, with a distinct floral note. On the palate incredibly focused and intense, possessing great lift and energy. To say this is ridiculously mineral would be an understatement. Beautifully textured with an acidity that really bites into one's teeth, gums and cheeks. Plenty of barely (=perfectly) ripe, tangy gooseberry fruit, but obviously this …

CO2, Granny Smith, lemon pith, pure, fresh. Lovely palate - precise acidity and very slightly spritzy, vibrant and pure flavours, touch r.s. and good balance. Refermenting in bottle?

PnP; used in and drank with Steamed Clams. Very easy to drink. Nice acidity lends balance to an especially generous fruit profile. It's not totally new world~y, but not typical of a lot of sancerre. I thought this vintage leaned toward unripe, and I know Boulay doesn't chaptalize, but the finished wine seems like it came from a riper vintage. Don't get me wrong; it's a really tasty wine and has nice balance. Maybe more "picnic" than serious and traditional. …

Very good wine. Crisp and flinty as a Sancerre should be. Bright and vibrant. Length is medium and the fruit forward onset provides a nice punch. Overall the wine has a nice acidity and benefits from an hour + of breathing. Fantastic QPR.

Light yellow straw. Tangerine and lemongrass with floral notes. Juicy and tightly wound but opening with each bottle (I have had two prior bottles and did not write notes). Gooseberries and oranges are framed by crackling acidity and lovely residual sweetness. Really fine stuff. As wgmccallum says, "electric wine, penetrating fruit with very high-tuned lively acid, mineral aroma with delicious floral notes. " Great value @ $23.

The nose is fresh and inviting with scents of acacia blossom, preserved lemon and flint. It is crisp and lively in the mouth with fresh fruit flavours that ping around the gums. The finish is very mineral. I like the understated nature of this Sancerre.

Wow! My second bottle showed much better than the first. Lovely intensity with lip smacking acidity. The kind of wine that keeps brining you back for more. Many layers of flavor. Alas, I now get the hype.

Lots of citrus with flinty minerality. Good acidity. We love this with sushi, as it refined enough for the mildest aburabo, acidic enough for the '00' fattiest toro, and will stand up to the oysters sunomuno or seared (spicy) white tuna...

The focus and minerality have faded a bit. There is still some acidity left, but the wine has become much more honeyed and fatter than it used to be. Still a great effort.

Agree with others that this is a wonderful expression of sauvignon blanc. While I tend to prefer New World regions for a lot of other varietals, when it comes to SB the Loire Valley is where it's at.

Very nice and interesting wine. Initially poured as we ordering dinner and much grumbling from the chard crowd that found the acidic wine to be too much ("Has this wine turned?). I'll grant the acidic observation, but once we had some bread with which to pair the wine, it immediately rounded out and showed its fruit and elegance while maintaining some acidic edge. Really nice wine.

What a great Sancerre. Boulay entry level, it offers a med aromatic nose with floral notes (cassis leaf), sweet lemon, hint of flint and lime. Med body, high acidity but with a ripe mouthfeel, more lemon on the palate along some grapefruit with a long finish on mineral notes. Avoid being too varietal and shows how great Chavignol terroir is for SB.

Light gold in color. Initially reticent aromas but opened up a bit with air. Tart apples, lemon, grapefruit, mild grass, herbs and minerals on the nose. Palate shows intense beautiful lemon, grapefruit, granny smith apples, more grass and herbs, with a good dose of minerals. Excellent acidity but still somehow with creamy mouthfeel. Nice moderately long finish of interweaving layers of citrus and mineral flavors. Really well done.

quite austere at first, more like chablis than Sancerre, but later little hints of melon or apple and a bit of roundness seemed to develop. Not sure if it was more surprising than disappointing, but perhaps day 2 will bring more appreciation. After reading RImmerman's description, I'm going to experiment with cellaring this 10 years to see what happens, if it turns out like a great White Burgundy...

Very, very nice. Good acid and I think chalk/stone. Like licking a lemon/lime stone. Long finish. Makes the mouth water. One of my Garagiste Whites. Drank this over three nights and it held up well - not much change. Paired very well with the crab souffle tonight.
