Domaine J. Meuret Pinot Noir Les Chênes Phelps Creek Vineyard

Been sitting on this for a while, and it's developed nicely, if also quietly. It's unfortunately slightly past peak. Aromas include cherry pit, mulberry, and cassis. Full bodied, broad, round, and smooth. The modest acid helps keep the thick tannin lifted. Flavors include muddled cherry, black plum, black pepper, and vanilla. Drink this ASAP.

I probably waited too long on this one. Underachieving, no real Pinot focus.

This was terrific. Beautiful strawberry wine colored with balance between the acidity and fruit. It is a shame Meuret is no longer making wine, what an elegant touch!

I was delighted to find Maison Bleue's tasting room in downtown Walla Walla on my last visit, and even more surprised to taste the Domaine J. Meuret Les Chênes Pinot Noir 2013, the inaugural vintage of this label, all of which are single vineyard wines made by Jon Meuret. Nicely balanced fruit and acidity in this Pinot Noir. An elegant wine.

Wow, this is a pleasant surprise from the largely-disappointing 2013 vintage in OR. Smoky red fruits on the nose and a nicely-balance structure leading to a delicious wine that is a pleasure to sip. Has a smokey and savory element that is a bit unusual (but certainly not in a negative way) for an OR Pinot. Bravo for producing such a delicious wine in a difficult vintage.

This had a Burgundy profile, lean notes, bright cherry and herb. Delicate and graceful, if the finish been better sustained this would have rated even higher
