Donnafugata Etna Sul Vulcano Etna Bianco

2016년이 첫 빈티지. 만족스러운 에트나 비앙코. 신선한 레몬, 미네랄, 허브, 스파이시.

Brought this to Huat Kee Teochew Restaurant for dinner to celebrate a birthday with the extended family. Deep gold in colour with flavourful notes of orange peel, unripe lemon, fresh minerality, apricot and muted floral fragrance. Suspect that some aging and time in the cellar will do this bottle good. Not much experience with white wines from Etna and the Carricante grape but this is slightly underwhelming.

Lemon juice, orange peel, white flowers, white peach, fresh cut parlsey, church incense, fresh baked bread. cooked garlic, and a certain dairy fat element on the nose. It kind of smells like when you deglaze a sauce with white wine. I'm picking up a good amount of both malolactic fermentation and lees aging here. The palate adds fennel seed, and the note from the nose that comes across as generic "dairy fat" transforms into a much clearer parmesan cheese rind. …

Honeyed pineapple-lemon curd; balanced; layered sweet lightly acidic supported finish.

nose was pretty floral and perfumed, with some flint and mineral. Some ripeness here but still got good acidity on the palate. Later on the nose became ripe and alcoholic.

Restaurant recommendation for an elegant white that’s not too acidic but with decent minerality. Quite muted aromas of mushroom and flowers with quite strong fruit profile on the palate which is almost sweet. Paired nicely with caviar and seafood tart but not well with the red prawn pasta. High acidity levels - needs more bottle time. Could only finish a little less than half. Price was US$ 200 which is way overpriced but unsurprising as orders at two Michelin star …

nice but not outstanding white wine from carricante grapes. Minerality ok, still there, but not as significant as tasting notes report. Decent scents of white flowers and some aromatic aftertaste. Maybe some ageing will improve...(?)

Tart peach with stone and slate; round; nice finish.

PnP. Medium fruit and smooth. Little hint of mineral but overall very balanced. Medium/ low finishing. Good for matching with food.
