Edgecombe Cabernet Merlot

Appearance: Ruby in colour with sediment in the glass. Very slow legs. Nose: Notes of oak and vanilla. Little bit of spice and pepper. Palate: Opens with dark fruit notes and cassis lends to a long finish with peppery flavours on the tongue. Tannins becoming silky despite this probably well past peak. Potential to taste the alcohol but it's rather in the background.

Lasting well beyond the prescribed ageing period. Strong tanning structure and good length, however has a slight acidic tendency in the aftertaste. Sediment in the bottle is a nice touch of age. The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like cedar and black pepper. It tastes like black pepper, cedar and black currant (cassis).
