Never would I have expected that a Tuscan Grenache blend would so consistently win my heart. Since the 2015 vintage, I have found Ampeleia Kepos to be an incredibly fresh and aromatic delight. I would rather drink few other Grenache based wines. The 2019 is as good as ever. So many cherries. This is superb. It starts off a little stinky, but air brings out a marvelous beast. Tangerine and blood orange, purple vitamins, marzipan, lovely delicate green herbal notes reminiscent of rosemary, fennel, mint, shiso... but such a pure core of cherry notes. This is a nice wine very much in the natural bent. I don't really see much of a reason to move up from the fantastic value Unlitero to this wine. It's a little funky on the nose. Brought red fruits, fresh vibrant, with some tannins that might be ever so much a touch much for the light easy body. Perfectly reasonable for $20, but again, I personally will look for the Unlitero instead.
