Christmas Eve Eve Lunch (Sun Wah BBQ) : Very similar to a bottle from early Summer. Super effusive and generous fruit with zippy acidity. Drank consistently great over ~8 hours.

1999 Red Burgundy Check-in Lunch (Andros Taverna) : Yum, so unctuous and rich with racy acidity and freshness. It feels fat, yet precise and has good cut in the finish showing nice balance. Early peak drinking with upside from here.

Drinking Burgundy Like Its 1999 (Andros Taverna - Chicago IL) : Ripe apple aromas and flavors, this gives a sense of plumpness on the palate, but also easily retains its energetic balance. In the middle of its drinking window.

Lovely Puligny. Opened 2+ hrs before drinking. Lovely white fruits, puff of chalk on finish. Definitely more approachable thanks to warmer year than 2014 alongside. Id say peak drinking now through 2030

Splash decanted, enjoyed over two hours, with the final sip being my favorite. Lovely tension, med+ body, with bright white, and some yellow fruit. Plenty of flowers and spice develop after the first glass. I'd say this is early days, for sure, but bodes well for the future. Very fun and engaging wine of exceptional purity. highly recommended

Almost totally seamless. The finesse in winemaking here is second to none. For a P Mont this is still so incredibly tightly wound on the palate - give it time as Benoit makes very taut and tight wines in their youth. The nose is just so damn pretty. If only I could afford more. World class Chardonnay.

Ravinia at Home (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL) : Tasted two days ago, note is from memory. Served double blind, correctly identified as white Burgundy. Apple and lemon peel start-to-finish, very bright with a well textured finish.

This was ok. Good but not great. Certainly not worth near its price dconsidering the competition. I'm left underwhelmed.

Drank at 67 Highly reductive nose very similar to his older brother. Very Coche like. Beautiful

Lots of charred oak wrapped around the baked apple core supported by chalky minerals and a bit of butterscotch. Right now this is tightly wound on the palate but finishes long and complex with zesty acidity.

Curnonsky dinner. Floral, fresh. Balanced acidity, serious purity. Very good.

Benoit is definitely benefiting from his time with his brother Arnaud. You can feel the wine is coming together bit by bit and its reaching the pinnacle. The 2015 clos de la truffiere is precise, elegant, balance yet very reductive at this time. Its benefiting from early harvest and unlike most the of 2015, it possesses sharp acidity. This is the white to go for now. A great white and possibly better than some of Arnauds 2015.

Here I found a remarkably fresh and vibrant expression, showing ripe lime, stone dust, dried florals, and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, I found soft, oily textures contrasted by vibrant acidity, hosting saline-minerals, fresh apple, and herbs. The finish was long with lasting mineral tones and hints of zesty citrus rind.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL) : Tasting, brief note. Starts out very rich with lots of orchard fruit. Very good concentration with a powerful finish showing very good structure for the 2015 vintage. Long, expanding finish. 91-92 point potential.

I am generally not a fan of 2015 white burgundy as they are too ripe with low acidity. Benoit's 15 has a lot of tensions and depth with salty minerals. Yes, the fruit is a bit ripe with medium acidity. But it is still a very good effort for the vintage. It is very tasty. 91-92
