Hogue Cellars Gewürztraminer

Floral aromas instantly, then nice fruit characteristics: pineapple, grapefruit, lemon. Taste is not nearly as intense as most Gewürze, more like off-dry in style. Orange/tangerine, lychee, and tart apple on the palate, with hints of honey and clove, and a refreshing bit of astringent tea on the finish. More floral/citrus, less heavy spice. Nice, not complex, good with asian dishes.

Light bodied, with floral aromatics and leaning toward being off-dry. Not enough weight to pair this one with food but nice as a stand-alone sipper. 85-86

This just became my favorite wine under $10 for Asian fare. Good acidity and not quite dry, not quite sweet. Floral, with maybe not as much of a touch of spice as some Gewiurz, but quite varietally correct. Gewurz is always a nice change of pace and Hogue reliably does a good job for an affordable price.

nose: quite floral. pineapple, lychee white pepper, a little petrol palate: easy, off-dry, tasty. lychee/nectarine/tangelo. subdued acidity. good long spicy/petrolly finish, a bit waxy. lovely

- Light gold color with slow forming legs and aromas of apricot, black pepper and cedar. It's balanced and has flavours of black pepper, apple, tea and honey with a light/medium body. Bright texture with a short finish.

Nose: very fragrant, nice lemon-lime profile, lime zest, apple blossom, pomelo and grapefruit, quite citrusy, some cucumber. Taste: off-dry, good balanced acidity, yellow apple, light lemon-lime soda, faintly white florals, really nice ice tea finish. Clover nectar and light honey flavour. Very nice! 90.

We liked this Gewurz.. it had a very light "diesel" smell (which is good, the heavy diesel aroma of many Gewurzs is a negative to me), and a fruity flavor nicely balanced with residual sugar.

good easy drinking value wine...nice acidity and not too sweet.

Fully bodied and supple with sweet honeyed fruit flavors of lychee, stonefruit, pear, and apple blossom. Has a semi-tactile mouthfeel. Paired with Asian stir fry.
