Racy, good fruit, light tannins, overall good but like others, I don't see a typical Syrah here. Overall another great effort from Peay but I like the La Bruma bottlings better.

Waited another year and... I can't score this. It isn't a bad wine but it doesn't taste like a Syrah. I might have guessed a Cab on this one. It's not a California-style Syrah nor does it remind me of a Northern Rhone Syrah.

Not a whole lot of varietal typicity so far, but starting to peak out at the edges. Needs at least another year.

Pretty tasty , but not as complex as the previous bottle. Lacks some of the strength and spice of the previous bottle. Fairly light. My wife thought it was a Pinot. Could be past it’s peak, but still delicious.

Very purple, probably needs more age to mellow out. Nice aroma and integrated tannins, a little racy but delicious. Peay Syrahs are not your average fruit forward style, more like Northern Rhone but still different. Worth drinking for sure.

Medium ruby. Aromatic dark plum on the nose, smoke, flowers, salted meat, white pepper. On the palate a rich density of bright red fruit with strong aromatic acids, surprisingly light tannins, low alcohol (13%), medium body.

Waited over a year and it's still nothing like a Syrah. My wife had it blind and guessed a Zin. Not a bad wine but just lacks the Syrah characteristics; no pepper and no earth. Not a fruit bomb, either. Rather boring, nondescript wine. I'll wait another year before the next one.

Initially upon opening there wasn’t much fruit. Later in the day the dark brambly blackberries emerged. This is no blockbuster but a pretty wine. Some nice spices and nutmeg to round things off.

Deep ruby color with straw edges. Moderately aromatic with lavender flower, cranberry, light cherry, and garrigue-centric nose. On the palate is has a medium plus body with garrigue, muted plum fruit, stone. It has an elegant, old-world style with good complexity. Light silky tannins, medium-med/light acidity, with some structure left for a few years of life. This is a great wine at its peak and with a few years to go. The fruit is more muted than the 2016 Les …

From memory, enveloping aromas of red and black plum, lilacs, and rocks. Intense concentration of pure clear fruit on the palate, full bodied without a hint of jamminess, strong integrated tannins and bright acids, long finish. Utterly delicious. 13.5% alcohol, amazingly. 94

Deep violet color. Blue fruit Napa style nose, floral. No alcohol on the nose, but aromas seem like a hot vintage. Palate is blue fruit, floral, violets, moderate tartness. Exceptional bottle, I would never have guessed this was coastal. I agree with the CT drinking window, would hold this one another 5+ years before trying again to let some of the acid/tartness cool off.

Layering on what Eric said....I find that indeed there is a very forward bright acidic vibrancy that almost borders on a Sourhead in terms of lip smacking tartness (ok maybe not quit a Sourhead but you get the direction)...lots of complexity lots to consider.... I think a few years in bottle puts it in nice alignment... Reduction in score from previous.... I am drinking a Syrah blend from southern France and maybe that is why I notice the acidic vibrancy …

Once again from a 375, and once again, no pepper or spice. Good, just atypical for a Syrah. Darker in the glass than my previous bottle, a nose of black fruits, and black and blue fruits on the palate. Not bad, just not what I want in a Syrah. Definitely need to stick some back in the cellar and see if it gains weight and complexity. Hold.

From a 375ml. Red fruits and flowers on the nose. The color was lighter than most Syrahs. Medium-bodied with no discernible pepper or other spices. I failed to find any earth, gravel, slate, and so forth. My wife described it as "easy drinking" and "not like a Syrah." I found the finish a bit sweet, reminding me of a candy apple. This wasn't bad by any means, but it's not what I want in a Syrah. I'll let the other …

Can't remember the last time I had one of these, but it’s definitely evolving positively. Major fires in the middle of summer affected Mendocino county in particular, but also drifted down into northern Sonoma county. When young, this wine had some noticeable fireplace ash notes, though in the case of Syrah, it melds pretty well with the wine. Now, that earlier smoke has mellowed into more of an attractive smoky bacon note, actually complimenting the still deep, dark blackberry Syrah …

The 2016 Peay Les Titans is utterly irresistible tonight. Paired with dry-rubbed st. Louis style braised ribs and showing a massive display of ripe dark fruits, offset by salty minerals, smoke, wild-savory herbs, animal musk, and peppery florals, yet staying fresh and lifted. On the palate it coasted across the senses with silky textures delivering notes of blackberry and sweet herbs as brisk acids added vibrancy, with citrus-tinged minerals, and hints of youthful tannin. The finish was long, displaying a …

Liked this with a steak. On its own, some meatyness, a bit of forest, a hint of salt, and a pepper-ness that was not too prevalent. Think Fall with this. I think it went much better with food as it's a bit much to just drink. The little bit that was left was still good on day 3 out of the fridge with a cork in the bottle. A little muted, but was cold.

Drinking very well. Bouquet of dark berries, anise, floral notes and spices. The finish had more herbal qualities, but dark fruit was prevalent. This will cellar for many more years and continue to evolve. I wouldn't be surprised to see this going strong 10+ years from now.

On opening, violets city. Blossoms with a few hours of air. Violets, boysenberries, black raspberry, black cherry, meat, earth, licorice, smoke, a little cedar, and a little vinyl car seat on the nose. Tart cherry, black cherry, boysenberry, licorice, earth, and blood on the palate. Has a cool climate feel, yet California, substantial concentration, yet lightness. Tart acidity, good tannins and finish. Overall, this was delicious and great with food. Not sure about the price, but I'm really liking Peay …

Dark lush big fruit. Some darker black olive aromas. Smoky meat but not overwhelming. Not too funk, just smoky. The palate was nice with great fruit up front. There's a full mid palate, but the finish was just a tad off balance. Maybe with a bit more time to breathe it could have opened up more but I still don't think it would have achieved a higher score. A nice wine, but a bit pricey at almost fifty bucks. I …

Initially dark crushed berries on the nose, with a little air a touch of smoke appears, but not enough to distract from the overall impression; on the palate pure, focused syrah fruit, excellent acidity, fine tannins, a lovely syrah. Drinking very well, albeit youthfully right now, this has many years ahead of it, though I'm really enjoying it at this early stage. From a half bottle.

Meaty, smokey, with Leather dominant on the nose out of the bottle. After 2 hours in the Decanter it showed some red and black fruit along with Violet and crushed rock to go with the gamey notes. Wonderful balance....like a Cote Rotie with some Cali Sunshine. So much more elegant and approachable than the 07' Les Titans at this time.
