Olga Raffault Chinon Rosé

Cleaning out wine cellar and came upon this bottle and thought it would be dead…dead. But lo and behold it was drinking really fresh and nice. Surprising for a rose

Very nice crisp rose. Some Loire firmness is evident.

Pale salmon color. Great nose of tart red fruit, green veggies, minerality and floral notes. Similar flavors on the palate with a great mix of fruit and earth. Light to medium bodied, crisp and delicious. Great QPR.

Consistently one of the the better Rosé wines out there.

Thursday Night w/ Bob (My Place - Washington, DC) : The color of strawberry jolly rancher candies, which is, of course, a wonderful color. Seashells, (she sells them by the sea shore), which is what this wine smells like. Throw in some wild strawberries and white cherries. Tightly wound on the palate with ripping acid (which I love), this wine is laden with minerals, jetty rocks, sea salt and limestone. I get strawberries, white cherries, white peach and a hint …

Strawberries and (grape)stems on the nose. Light to medium bodied with good energy between the balance of the fruit and pleasant acidity. Rounded finish. Simple, quaffable, summer smoothie.

Very tart, not my favorite rosé. Was neither bold and structured nor floral and fruity, kind of just tart and a bit dry.

Super tangy--mouth watering. Not super light (a la Baudry's rosé) more tang, rasp, and some mineral. Really vivacious--not super fruity, but no real veggie (onions) notes like some pink Chinon. Great value--wants food!

Super fresh and silky, floral, with berries but I wouldn't exactly call it fruity. Identifiably Chinon but no vegetal notes. Kind of perfect and very well-priced.
