Fairly consistent over the years. Lighter Sauternes with an apricot and barley sugar nose. Light botrytis, creamy, maturing but still with time ahead of it. Good cheese wine. No rush with other bottles.

Just realized I forgot to enter our Thanskgiving wines last month. Details might be hazy but I’ll do my best. Other than the Champagne, we tasted all wines blind. We needed a dessert wine and this was the only one in reach in the cellar. Not blind. It served the purpose, something sweet to end the meal and compliment the pumpkin pie, but nothing special.

Drinking well, barley sugar and plenty of botrytis. Tastes mature but with plenty of life ahead of it. Nice.

This sauternes has improved over the last 6 years. The complexity has improved, with orange marmalade, honeysuckle, stone fruit, nuts and spice.

Sweet honey, lychee, pineapple, and apricots on the tongue. Nice botrytis. A very slight wine fault that gives it a bit of brett but otherwise quite nice. The capsule on this bottle was sticky underneath like it had leaked a bit and the cork was a bit dry.

Gold and clear. A: honey stone fruit toffee. F: peaches and orange marmalade, honey and a touch of caramel. Drank over several days and showed good richness, good acid. No rush but also quite enjoyable, so why not?

Great QPR. Caramel, brown sugar, caramelized pear, orange zest, hints of cinnamon. Wish it had more acidity, but still enjoyable in small doses - especially good given its price. Drank over 3 days.

Crazy deal for $10 for 500ml from Last Bottle Marathon in April 2018. Is it the most complex Sauternes ever? No. Is it flat-out delicious and better than pretty much anything else you can get for $10 (if you like dessert wines from time to time)? Well, duh, yes.

Pnp after a day in the fridge. Colour of light-medium hay-gold; somewhat subdued nose of apricots, some nectarines, and hints of pineapple and honey. On the palate the botyrized fruits are apparent with its honeyed pears and brown sugar with bits of honeysuckle. Medium bodied with a medium finish; not too concentrated. Not earth shattering for a sticky(is this really a discarded d'Yquem?), but the price I paid for a 500ml($12) pretty much made up for it.

High Low Blind Tasting Part II - Can you taste the difference NOW? (Amy and Scott's house) : Served blind alongside a corked 2001 Suduiraut. This wine is a straightforward Sauternes that is drinking well right now. Orange peel, caramel, honey and spice. This juts hits the exceptional level to me. 11 out of 15 people preferred this to a corked 2001 Suduiraut, for whatever that means.

Wine and Cheese (Greenlake) : Great nose with botrytised honey and lemon. Loads of acidity on the palate keeps things very vibrant; rich and sweet without being cloying. Very nice.

This was truly fantastic. Mouth-coating honey flavor backed up by great citrus/acid as well as a creaminess that was hard to describe. Stood up wonderfully to the cheese and desert courses for a special dinner.

Rich, viscous honey-gold. Initially strong petroleum nose, opening to botyris. Very aromatic. Caramel, brown sugar, a touch of pear. Very rich and sweet. Little balancing acidity or finish, but very tasty, bordering on delicious.

Subtle hints of apricot, honey, white roses and Clementine on the nose. On the palate the there is peach, honeysuckle and stony minerality and a touch of orange. Gorgeous acidity and astounding length round out this well balanced and precise wine.

Good QPR. Honey and floral nose. Honey, pineapple, apricot palate. One dimensional, but balanced. A little cloying. Lingering botrytis finish (in a pleasant way).
