Medium purple in the glass. Despite a documented difficult vintage getting lovely dark fruit and herbal nose with blueberries, mint, black tea and dried herbs. Palate is super smooth with very soft tannins providing less structure but very elegant medium body with peppery spice. Long finish with herbal, tar and leafy characters. My feeling is that this is drinking really nicely now.

Opened 2024 . Awesome wine of great length and Clare Valley regionality. Still very fresh with a decade ahead of it . Mint , chocolate, dark berry fruit , Forrest floor .

Opened 2023. Second 2008 Shiraz that was undrinkable , the other one was opened 2021 . Both from the same delivery. Was this the last year of cork closure ? I hope so.

Mindblowing. Easily the best shiraz I've drunk. Decanted for 6hrs and paired with eye fillet and lamb rack. Smooth, flavour driven. Just feels like it could last for another 30yrs. Drank next to a Penfolds RWT which was amazing in its own right but just proved why Wendouree is the king of Australian Shiraz.

A monster tasting at Laszlo's : Earth, violets, roses and some smoke on the nose. Savoury and earthy palate, plenty of freshness to go along with the complexity as well. Great carry and length. In an excellent spot.

Great wine! Mushroom hints. Earthy flavours. Deep red colour. Good tannins. Light pepper. Quite a young wine still that will last another 10 plus years.

WOTN. Compelling. Beautifully fresh and structured. All class. Power in the fruit but a taut backbone and savouriness. More dark fruited. Spice and herb complexity. Very special, classy and sophisticated - drank like an intense cool climate Oz Shiraz. Converted me to the quality of Wendouree Shiraz.

Vintage 2011 Tasting : med/dark red pure red berries, some plum, a hint of mint . . . ultra smooth red berry essence, silky very even palate, lovely balance, soft ripe tannins. A relatively delicate expression. drinking well now.

Checking in on this atypical one. Light bodied and just as light coloured. Mulchy, sappy and savoury with a nice gum leaf nip and lift through the chewy savoury finish. The fruit is very much in that bruised strawberry spectrum, it’s pretty transparent. A lot like village Cote De Beaune in a ripe year with a few years bottle age but the eucalyptus gives it away. So different to the 2005 Wendouree Malbec next to it which was relatively backwards, …

Great shiraz - lots of life and lots to come. Complexity of flavour and wonderful balance. Bottle finished too soon.

Beautiful Wendouree but still a way off maturity. Medium bodied but with terrific length, really tastes of the landscape and so varietal for me in terms of a Wendouree Shiraz. It tastes deeply of dark fruits and eucalypt, dried herbs and liquorice, so distinctly Australian and earthy but not in a Barossa way. A unique version and for me one of the better Wendouree Shiraz I have had. A very slight spike on the finish is the only thing I …

Probably one of the best reds from the miserable 2011 vintage across much of Australia, but a Wendouree this is not (I say this based on collecting Wendouree since the 1991 vintage and having tased 1970s and 80s examples). Initial whiff of pepper, spice and cherry fruits suggested it might offer some interesting maturity early for a Wendouree. However, the moderate complexity fades away to plain cherry, vanillin aromas. Easy on the palate but verging on dilute for Wendouree. Nothing …

Very easy drinking. A short term Wendouree for me.

Decanted for fours hours before drinking. Wow, I don't think I'd pick this as a Wendouree Shiraz in a blind tasting. Everything is dialed back here - the intensity, concentration, and structure/tannin. The nose offers beautiful black fruit - blackberry, plum, pepper and a hint of eucalyptus (though perhaps less than usual). Entry is smooth with a rich mid palate - surprisingly open and soft. The tannins are relatively glossy (for a Wendouree Shiraz) and there is good acidic drive …

Beautiful nose of spices, berries and florals. So powerful and lengthy on the palate. It is very young but still has delightful complexity. Brilliant.

Very tightly coiled at the moment. A bitter herb characteristic is dominant on the nose, and a very serious, savoury palate - a lovely red and black lick of sweet fruit on entry, followed by a massive block of eucalyptus and herbs in the midpalate and an end which lasts for a long time. Good tannins which will hold the wine in good stead for many years. Palate texture above medium. Drinking this now is purely an academic exercise - …

A lovely youthful purple that dances in the glass. It's not currently revealing a lot on the nose and appears quite closed aromatically. On the palate this has a very subtle and understated entry which is followed by silky wall of red and black fruit, liquorice, eucalyptus, a sprinkle of herbs and spices and a bucket load of supple, ripe tannin. This is a concentrated, intense and serious wine with great length, yet it is never more than medium bodied. …
