Expressive nose, dark berries. Dark berries and purple fruit on palate. Dark, brooding, earthy, nice tannic structure. Really enjoyed this wine.

Surprised to say this was better on night one than night two. On night two it picked up a bit of a medicinal character, which made it a bit less compelling on the palate. Not sure what that portends for the long term, but something to keep in mind if drinking now.

Honestly I am typically so so on this vineyard, sometimes finding it has insufficient acid relative to the RRV ranches, Contra Costa etc. However despite the tough vintage the 20 bedrock is excellent with purple zin fruit, orange peel and citrus, dirt. Good acid and moderately rustic tannins that lend admirable structure to the wine. No doubt this will go another 15+ years without problems but no shame in opening one now.

Simple and neutral wine. Super basic and lacks any interesting flavors or aromas. Very disappointing. Saved a bit for day two with the hope for some development, but there was no improvement. From the reviews my bottle may have not been up to par. I bought this upon release and it was cold cellered from day one. It had no perception of being corked or heated.

Picked up at Winebid recently and the bottle felt like it was in perfect shape. Really big and vibrant on the nose, dark fruits but still energetic, a hint of citrus (my wife said grapefruit!). Full of rich red fruits (esp. raspberry) and a bit of spice. Medium bodied with a great mouthfeel and clean finish. This is my personal favorite of the Bedrock Heritage wines. It's drink very nicely right now

Still showing some freshness. Dark red fruit, spice, and a touch of earth mingle beautifully with remaining tannins. A treat. Drinking beautifully now; enjoy over the next 3 years.

Dark Ruby in color with a hint of violet, no opacity, high alcohol based on viscosity. The nose has high concentration, bringing aromas of blackberry, canva, brambly currant, coconut, tobacco leaf, and cocoa. Had several of these over the last few weeks. This one 40 mins in glass. V - Clear, deep garnet, medium meniscus, high viscosity. N - Raspberry, blackberry, light soil, baking spices. P - Powerful fruit. Rasp, Cherry, Blue and Black. Some spices on the palate but fruit dominates. S - Dry, med+ body, Med+ acidity, fine/medium/tamed tannins, Med+ length and complexity. The fruit comes in decreasing waves. Generally continues to improve with air.

Pop n’ pour into a Spiegelau Definition Universal glass. Precise nose of cassis, black cherry, peony, black licorice, and graphite. PnP. Nose of blueberry, boysenberry, cotton candy, and pencil eraser. Punchy black raspberry and bright cherry palate with rocky acidity underlaid with ground cinnamon and notes of cardamom. The acidity builds into a zesty blue fruit crescendo with an alcoholic punch and touches of black olive and black fruit. This drinking on its own Zin is singing right now.

Last tasted 9/16/2023. Everything noted from that tasting is still relevant with the addition that this wine has become better integrated - all the flavors and textures are playing well with each other! Excellent!

Opens a bit stinky and weedy, with overtones of prunes. Thankfully it blows off and firms up after an hour or so, to show that classic bedrock heritage profile of pulverized stone and orange peel. Blue fruited on the palate, with layers of flowers, dried white peaches, and a strong mineral core that goes for days. Drinking well with some air but this is still on the upswing.

Quick decant. Nose of blackberry, forest floor, old oak and a hint of charcoal. Boozy palate of rounded black fruits, black tea, exotic spice and minerals with bright acidity. A pleasant finish of dry blue fruit, fresh sage, smooth tannins, smooth stones, a touch black peppercorn and an aged but not quite neutral oak finale. Drinking well.

Far from your run of the mill couch potato Zinfandel, this has a vertical, serious presence. Cool stuff. Spice, sweet (but only just), very balanced, manly. Very good wine, prized acccordingly. There is a peppery depth, taht I really like - as a like steak au poivre.

Decanted and let it sit for 4 hours. Tasted alone and then paired with steak dinner. For us this was in an odd spot and elicited mixed reviews. I thought it was flat from the get go. Wife thought it was good early and then faded. Not sure what's going on. It's not flawed in any way. Perhaps time will help so we'll wait at least a year to try another bottle.

Popped and poured. This is still a bit tight aromatically but offers lots of dark fruit, vanilla oak and peppery spice. Evident structure and good length. Zin is prominent in the blend but this bottling often drinks more like a steakhouse cab or brunello to me. This is no exception. Very enjoyable now but probably better in 2-3 years.

Glassware: Zalto Universal Prep: Pop n’ pour, followed over several hours Blue-fruited and purple florals on the nose. On the palate there is a lovely mix of dried blue fruits, black cherry, plum, sandalwood, orange peel, and a distinct spicebox note that gains weight and leaves a little tingling sensation on the finish. Enjoyed this a lot.

Opened it, tasted it, liked it a lot, but decanted anyway two hours before dinner, expecting even more openness but in fact it went the other way. Didn't exactly close up so much as the round, warm, earthy notes retracted and it became just angular sweet dark fruit and tannins. Went ahead and served it but it wasn't what I hoped for.

I think this wine will some day earn a bigger score. It is so young at this time. Hidden black fruit that you know some day will almost explode. After all the fruit is from those two wonderful vineyards with huge heritage in that region. Thanks Bob Lundquist!

Deep purple black color. Rich cedary nose with lots going on, black cherry, mint, rosemary, black pepper, violets all wafting from the glass. Big chewy mouthfeel with the nose notes and ripe plum. Complex rich wine that continues to open up. Love it!

Black fruit, touch of eucalyptus, new leather, medium tannins. Savory, dark, balanced, forgettable. POV, had after a ‘22 Bedrock Papera which just explodes in the mouth and is an exceptional wine. This one is a bit more pedestrian. Day 2 is better. A distinctive sage note. Tannins still very present. My overall opinion is to let these rest maybe another 2-4 years plus.

Stony all over, maybe a touch underripe with muted fruit. Very good cool vineyard character. Plus tannins, with plenty of life ahead. Quite nice finish.

Opened for two hours (no decant). Initially remained a little closed, but over the third hour it opened nicely to develop a nice depth and finish. Some blue fruit and quite a bit of blackberry. Only drank half a bottle and am anxious to see how it continues to develop with time.

Notes of black cherry, cracked pepper, and bramble coalesce throughout, with a pinch of tannins emerging late. Great structure here.

Plum, jam, pepper, some tobacco. Excellent with red meat, could see with pizza or red pasta.
