Kalleske Zinfandel Fordson

Inky black wine, blackberry and blackberry leaf on the nose. The palate is fresh and clean and fruit forward, surprisingly so considering its age. Black fruit dominates, although there is a subtle undercurrent of tabacco that lingers long after the long fruity finish has drifted away. Drinking very well now.

Yes, this is a Zinfandel from Barossa Valley and it´s a beautiful one! Quite a powerhouse with great concentration of fruit and freshness. Dark aromatics berry fruit, spices, fruit jam, minerals and earth. Inky and rich on the palate, but of cool depth and freshness. Distinct Kalleske. From a vineyard planted in 2007 this is a promising early drinking wine.

This wine is definitely worth a second visit. Strong notes of vanilla on the nose with a subtle fruit finish. Very different to other Zins on the market but a very nice wine nonetheless.

A very smooth velvety wine. Having spent the last two weeks drinking beautiful Californian Zinfandels in Canada, I'd have to say that this doesn't meet my criteria for a great Zinfandel, but its a very nice wine besides.
