Surprisingly fresh and vibrant, I think this still has a very long life ahead of it. Quince and rubber/petrol, great balance of sweetness and acidity.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2013 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany) : Glass: Sophienwald Universal Wonderful Auslese. Even though a gold capsule, the botrytis is not dominating. Great pressure and tension, weightless power. Super complex and super long. Wonderful wine. Potential for the next two decades.

Coravin at Riesling Haus in Bernkastel. Oh boy what a thick monster. Acacia honey, ripe pineapple, ripe mango, ripe peach and apricot with some grapefruit to give a bit of and bitterness. Really thick and creamy with a slight acidic finish but mostly sweet as a GK would suggest. Just wonderful!

ONe of many wines I kinda bumped into when reorganizing my cellar. A real Aha!-experience and an old-time favorite. Light and bright yellow in the glass. Subtle complexity. Mouthwatering hints of green tea, jasmin, ginger, white pepper, lemonpeel, white peach and wet rocks. Wonderful balance between sweetness, freshness, salinity and acidity. This is all about refinement. Drinking beautifully now, and the following decade. A classic Mosel beauty.

Day 3. From 375ml. I took this to Riesling Study #5 over the weekend and brought some home. Deep and dark and somewhat reticent. Brown sugar, mint, tangerine, vanilla extract. More open on the palate - mint, molasses, brown sugar, apricot, orange. Not heavy, and there is underpinning acid, but definitely not racy or light. Golden straw hued. Ripe pear and bruised apple, with hints of hazelnut; still fairly viscous and zesty and a touch too sweet for me at this point.

Quick note two days after. Still light yellow gold. Nice nose. Fresh and yet fairly lightweight for a GKA with sweetness fading and decent acidity. Still, delightful to drink. Drinking more like a Spatlese. Followed this with a 2005 Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke GKA which was much darker and richer but not as good.

Medium straw color. Light body. Lime, citrus and abricot. Fresh, well balanced. Quickly disappears without much of a finish. Had with hake and cream. Worked well enough.

Noticed this one's cork had pushed out about 1cm and was leaking, so I decided to open it (375ml). Nothing to fear, it turns out. This is light yellow gold in color. The nose is rich and spicy, with clear Botrytis, but also with great energizing acidity - lots of sweetness and fruit, but there is serious sharpness and bite from the acid. I can already sense slight petrol and flint with the peachy aromas, ripe pears, apples, honey and nectarine on the palate, mineral nuances on the finish, round, with nectar-like consistency, some natural sweetness to carry off, it is all even and full of quality, very nice

Very attractive nose, some slate but predominantly peachy, hinting at the sweetness on the palate. It was sweeter than I had expected and the acidity one might have anticipated from this vintage was hardly there, let alone dominant. Given that it is from Fritz Haag, a bit too sweet and simple even at this modest level, but a few more years in bottle might result in something with more interest. Lemon-yellow color; nose is aromatic, plenty of petrol, slight matchstick reduction, lemon-lime; palate is light bodied, vibrant medium-plus acidity, lemon-lime spritz on the palate, fades a bit through the midpalate; short-medium length finish. A well balanced and well made but simple riesling, decent value though for $30 you can find world class rieslings as well. 88-89

Pale lemon, watery rim @7.5% abv. Medium(-)-medium aromas of yellow apple, mango, lychee, slate/flint, beeswax. Off-dry, medium(+) acidity, low alcohol and medium(-) body. Medium(+) flavors of lemon, apple, lychee/rambutan, pineapple, petrole aromas hit the back of the palate. Focused, clean, fruit-driven good length with fresh finish. Hedonistic Mosel fun!

A Visit To Fritz-Haag (Brauneberg, Germany) : Fresh rhubarb scents mingle with mountain stream minerality and deep, full peach scents. When tasted, it's like a bite of a great peach, with the skin intact, along with a crisp zip of rhubarb. Everything sits so gently on the palate! The length is solid, with peaches and honey backed by great acidity bringing lots to enjoy. On the finish, everything fades very slowly, like the echoes of a bell.

A Visit To Fritz-Haag (Brauneberg, Germany) : The nose is a bit austere right now, showing bare soil and scents of yellow flowers. When tasted, yellow apple flavors show right away along with a touch of cream, and later some apple peel flavors come into play. As it evolves, the apples show great depth. A long and slow build of acid is enjoyable, slowly rising above the richness and creating some nice evolution. 90+

A Visit To Fritz-Haag (Brauneberg, Germany) : The nose shows good complexity, with lemon, grape, and stone scents mixing in the glass. Limes and lemons are bright and crisp on the palate. Overall, it's ripe, juicy, and decadent, and electric acidity slowly grows to balance the fruit and dry the palate very nicely. The fruit is excellent on the front end, as is the evolution this goes through across the palate. Lovely!

Light yellow. Ripe nose of some honey, yellow apple and baby powder. Relatively light weight, off dry, glossy entry gives way to a greener, more tart, papaya finish. Great delicacy for a goldkap Auslese, wonderful acidity, balance and length.
