Screwcap, 14% alc. Still a pretty vibrant, medium ruby with purple hints. A calming berry compote nose (blackberry mulberry, dusty blackcurrant) with harmonious oak integration, some earth, and a eucalyptus top note. Smooth and well composed palate; nothing really jutting out. There’s still a lot of sweet primary fruit, refreshing acidity and persistent dusty tannins. Deep but not heavy. Opinion: not the brute I was anticipating. Refined and showing some class, well above the price I paid for it. Likely …

More shiraz than cabernet. Good structure and decent balance. The cabernet provides a tannin profile that adds to the structure. Acidity is fine and holds the wine together through to a medium long finish.

A 2015 father's day gift to my dad, he's now serving my own wines back to me! 😄 Seriously though, I think it's a lovely thing to do when you're gifted wine to keep it to share with the giver. Classic Cab, pleasingly mid-weight rather than overly big and ripe. Tart red currant fruit and dry, savoury tannins. A bit of fresh eucalypt but not green, no capsicum/pyrezine. A bit of cigarbox but it's still mostly primary. Really nice drinking …

Drank over dinner with my wife. Very enjoyable wine, well balanced, good fruit, mellowing tannins and still an amount of acid on the finish. Most of my Doz remains, so I will enjoy it over the next five years

Screwcap working *too* well? 11yrs in bottle and even after an hour decant this wine was tasting a bit raw and I was rather disappointed with the 2 glasses I had. Remainder of bottle kept overnight and on day2 this was a much better wine. Ripe blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, foresty menthol notes - cedar?, some vanilla and earthiness. Slight syrupyness. I think there's a good wine here, but it needs time

"Another old Coonawarra red. Very deep red colour. Lots of dark berry flavours. Either texture. Light pepper nose. This is a brilliant older wine still presenting at its peak. Enjoyed this with some roast lamb shoulder.

This was under screw cap, not decanted and note made on 2nd day open. Scored as low end of 'Excellent' on the CT scale. 2012 was an interesting vintage in the cooler regions of SE Oz, which includes Coonawarra. Whereas it was a great year in the traditionally warmer regions of the Barossa, McLaren Vale etc. care is needed with the cooler regions - it was a pretty mild summer and autumn, but rain often came at difficult times and …

Pop 'n poured. Still very black-purple. Swirling deep set aroma of mulberry. oak shavings, sawdust, mulberry again. volumes of fruit, blackberry pastille with oak not yet integrated, acid still ok. This has years ahead of it (if I had any more bottles, which I don't) under Stelvin. A good meat wine if a tad fruit mono dimensional. I would give it another 5 years for the cabernet component to get some tertiary complexity notes and the excessive oak to soften …

I opened a bottle on Saturday and set aside half a bottle for the Sunday night, however we had a family dinner on Sunday night and I opened a fresh bottle (same wine) which was consumed on the night. Tonight I finished the half bottle from Saturday with dinner. This is a luscious wine. The Coonawarra blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, no idea of the breakup, is an Australian benchmark. Full bodied, really well balanced fruit, acid, wood and smooth …

St George cab sav 2012 - tasted 27/28 Mar, with peppercorn pizza, meat and cheese pie, chinese roast duck, black pepper beef from joyful chef, so good. Finished in 2 days on my own. Checked price $82 per bottle! No wonder so good.

With decantering, the wine opened up beautifully offering black fruits and spicy undertones that are very appealing on the nose. The palate is well intergrated with a long palate profile with hints of mint and dark chocolate subtetly intertwined with the oak. 1991 Limestone was a favourite for both me and my good friend Alan Wattman who lived in the Hunter and had a prodigious cellar of classic wines. Five cases was just about enough for him. The 2012 version …

An abundance of red and dark berries on the bouquet with tones of vanilla and a hint of spice. Not sure whether the Cabernet has been softened off by the shiraz or the shiraz is beefed up by the Cabernet but it certainly has good body with firm tannins. Good mouth feel, light dash of pepper, red and dark berry fruit, oak, tannins and acid with good length. The wine was allowed to breath for an hour and a half …

Plenty of dark fruit on the nose. The body is full with firm tannins. Finish has lashings of vanillin oak, fruit and mint. Edit: needs more time to come into a better balance.

Beautifully balanced. Acid in check. Medium bodied. Dark fruits. Lovely nose of blackcurrants and cedar. Not syrupy at all, but offers plenty of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants and plums. Pepper, tobacco, olives. Survived very well over three days drinking. A classy wine and a certainty to age well.

Dark ruby, medium perfumed aromas of black fruits. Aromas of lack currant, blueberry. The palate is dry, well integrated, long length, medium plus alcohol, medium plus acid, medium tannin, medium plus body. Some chocolate.

Another lovely Coonawarra Cabernet. Regional cassis and blackberry flavours predominate on the front of the palate, with savoury black olive and meaty umami flavours on the back palate. Super fine tannins and a good acid balance. Those savours flavours lend the wine a nice complexity and a good length of finish. Still needs some bottle time to approach its best. A nice wine, but lacking that special x-factor I remember from earlier vintages.

A promising 92/100 (3.6/5.0) from me. I picked up a 6 pack from WineMarket with a few tricky discount codes and cash back scheme for just over $22 a bottle. Not bad for a cellar door $75 wine with a strong age-worthy reputation. This single vineyard Coonawarra classic has strong (mostly) blue and (some) black berries on the nose, with a touch of black olives and white flowers. The palate is smooth and predominantly blueberries and chocolate. But the new …

Really surprised by this wine. It was much much better than I expected. A lovely expression of Coonawarra Cab Sav.
