Inky dark, intense nose of garrigue, rosemary, thyme, roasted meats and blueberry. Medium acid, medium structure long finish.

Always been a fan of the beaucastel and yes the price differential is substantial but this Jacques Perrin cuvée takes everything to another level. Explosive on the nose insanely perfumed with everything from black cherry, truffles, lavender, roasted meat I mean it’s all over the place. Complexity off the charts. Full body massive concentration on the palate with an incredibly long finish. It’s a massive dense wine that offers everything you can imagine but it’s definitely heavy. You can really …

A friend rates whisky on two separate scales — respect it and enjoy it. I easily give this bottle 100 points on respect. But weirdly I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could have. From the cork pull it fills the room with a whole blackberry patch. In the glass it’s inky dark with just hints of brown at the edges. All those blackberries and tons of pepper (both the musky notes and the spicy notes) and hints of …

Decanted 1 hour. Tannins are well integrated. Very smooth. Dried prune, plum, over ripe cherry. Hints of white pepper. Long 30 second plus finish. Well rounded wine. Nice wine, but not quite an exceptional wine.

Of the mini vertical including 1998 and 2009, the 2007 showed best. Great success - balance and harmony is spot on.

Kleur: Voor Ch9dP opvallend donker en geconcentreerd. Aroma / bouquet: Aangenaam, donker en verleidelijk bouquet, expressief en geparfumeerd. Zoetige gemberkoek, subtiel stallerig, donker fruit.

One hour decant. Fantastic CDP. Nose of licorice, grilled meat, BBQ sauce, and plums. Full-bodied but not imposing. Can't imagine this getting any better, but certainly will survive another decade. Great stuff.

Double decanted for an hour, brought this & served blind, upon opening huge complex stunning nose, full bodied, sweet Grenache, rich, powerful but balanced, old vines providing the complexity & length, v young, i would say drink after 2030 95+

Decanted about an hour and ready to go. Amazing Mourvèdre nose and palate with just about the right amount of everything, well balanced and fully integrated. Not all bottles have been equal, but this one was at the top. Greatly enjoyed for a couple hours.

Impressive wine - full bodied and so rich, layers of ripe dark fruit. Needed some time in the decanter to mellow out but just a flat out delicious CDP.

Decanted for a hour, and drank over two. Great wine, but likely still too early. Looking forward to trying the next one in 10 years. Rich, voluptuous, meaty. Great match with the thick T-bone steak. Lovely.

Serieus …

Superb CNdP. Mourvèdre dominance very evident, massive dark fruit, thick glycerine like texture and flavour that goes on and on! All four of us drinking it thought it was sensational. No hard to see why Robert Parker rated 100/100.

Medium garnet and some fade in edges. Aromas of ripe red fruits with apparent freshness as if a very youthful wine, as well as violets, sweet cinnamon and bit of smoke and barnyard funk. Tannins round and silky, and a medium body that felt lifted with fresh ripe red cherry and cool menthol, as well as cinnamon, nutmeg and fresh red flowers, and some tar at the back. Very long finish that lasted about 2 to 3 minutes. A really …

Clear Deep Ruby red, not quite opaque with viscous legs. Pronounced nose of ripe raspberry, ripe cassis, red cherry, ripe black cherry, blueberry and grape, hint of violet, spices including black pepper, liquorice, leather, red meat, cigar box. Dry, medium+ acidity, high ripe tannin, high alcohol, full body. Very concentrated and pure flavours of ripe raspberry, cherry, cassis, rose hip and blueberry. Pronounced black pepper, leather flavours, hint of liquorice, blood and meat, tobacco.

Pausing for the Cause 2019 (Chicago, IL) : I really wanted to like this more as this is one of my favourite CdPs, and although this is outstanding in the context of one of the worst vintage/region pairings in my lifetime so far, this wine just comes off a little too spoofy. Lots of black cherry liqueur and other sweet-black-fruit-related things. Tons of them, in fact. The palate is pretty heady and dense, and there's a very slight bit of …
