Oakridge Pinot Noir Vineyard Series Willowlake Vineyard

Pop and pour over the course of 120mins. Sunday bbq of pork and fennel sausages, rump steak and sides a perfect accompaniment. It's got depth and balance. Fruit and spice with a long mineral finish. YV does it again.

A medium bodied pinot with lovely complexity. Unfortunately it was severed a little over-chilled so the fruit flavours were not as prominent, but red and black fruits still come to the fore. Well balanced with very fine tannins and light oak coming through

90 min decant. Difficult one. Acid way too high still, very overwhelming. Still relatively primary in colour, fruit forward with polished dark red cherries, pomegranate and hints of undergrowth. Unfortunately I can’t get past the acid, despite how well it’s holding up.

The last tasting note on this wine was four years ago, when the wine was only a couple of years old. Many of the previously described elements have changed -- as, of course, is expected. The wine has a more mature Burgundian character at this point, with truffle and mushroom in the nose, while still retaining some muted fruit aromas and flavors. Lovely nose of red fruits, spice, rose petal oil and earthy notes. Light bodied, red fruits framed by acid. Lacks intensity and length for me.
