2002 Ferrari Carano Tresor Cellared since release; Pnp, Valentines day 2025 Red/purple core with slight brown at the rim. Nose of black fruit with tertiary characteristics of earth and leather. Full bodied rich black fruit of great purity exhibiting early plum stage after one hour of air. Soft/almost resolved tannins and a 10 second finish. Really enjoyable Bordeaux blend (including Malbec). Drink up. 93 points.

At this age it’s become a bit much one-dimensional, but hasn’t gone over the yardarm. Color is still great with no bricking. Nose is cedar, licorice, tar. Palate of black fruits. Cork was a challenge, as to be expected. Drink ‘em now if you still have ‘em.

Rich, smooth, layered, balanced and delicious BDX blend. Opened up after about 30 min in the glass. Pleasant hint of dusty dryness in the finish. Still has years of cellar life to go, but drinking beautifully now with a little aeration.

Last one here, Simple decant, same O …waning fruit, fine tannins, just a masterpiece really after 23 years. Not a lot of Cali wines can hold up this long and still show. Drink it 5 years ago or now.

Drink up. Past its prime. Super barnyardy and lots of vegetal notes. Due to the blend the tannins were smooth but lacked any length.

Doing a vertical tasting tonight with a 2009 and 2010 Tresor. Cork of the 2009 was clean. Cork of the 2010 is wet about halfway down with some tartrates (crystals) on the end. Funk on the nose of both wines but with more fruit coming through on the 2010. Tasting the wine, there is slightly more dark fruit coming through in the 2009 than in the 2010. Just opened and still tasting - more to come. Second day: Same as …

Dark black cherry color to the rim of the glass. Lovely supple and elegant mouthfeel with a presence of lively, but not overtly drying tannins. The rounded and grape-skin derived flavors are blended into an indescribable amalgam of fruit, as a soft conversation of the five players, complementary yet not overpowering one another. There is also a bonus of citrus, orange peel, but not any of the aforementioned green pepper experienced by earlier contributors. Our expectations were realized as the …

Simple decant, perfect cork and seal. Amazingly good right now, I had to double vinturie to make it pop. No sign of bricking, crazy for this old of Sonoma wine. If I blind tasted it, I’d say mid life, with the fruit still in the mix. I have one more and will be drinking sooner than later!

Nose of cherry and blackberry and oak. Tastes of ripe plum and blackberry fruit with a hint of forest floor and a good dose of oak. Medium + acidity and medium tannins. Stood up remarkably well as it followed a bottle of 2009 Paul Hobbs Dr. Crane cabernet which was outstanding. Enjoyed with Lisa, Sarah and Claire.

PNP on New Years Eve Dark red color. On nose, sweet red fruit (cherry/plum) and touch of oak (not overdone). On palate, plum, blackberry, oak flavor profile with full body and good structure (medium acidity/tannins). Nice long finish. I really enjoyed and would buy again. 91-92 range.

On the nose, boysenberry jam and chocolate dipped dark cherries with attar of roses. Boysenberry jam and chocolate dipped dark cherries continue on to the palate along with a light earthiness. Wonderful full mouthfeel with great structure and velvety texture. Very good pairing spaghetti aand marinara, dark European-style bread and butter, would be even better with a meatball, meat sauce or paired with beefsteak of some kind or simply charcuterie.

Pietros : I was surprised by clarity of fresh fruit in this wine. The nose is classic claret but without the touches of brett or other beauty marks. This is pure clean flavors of Cabernet, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. The oak is nicely integrated and the finish although not perfectly smooth is quite drinkable. I think this will only get better with time 5-7 years, but it is quite nice now.

A blend of the five noble grapes, this is a very good wine. Starts out a touch dark and brooding, but an hour in the decanter brings out cassis, blackberries, sage, and menthol. Shades of red fruit, cinnamon, and cloves too. The palate is smooth, chiseled, and structured, with plenty of dark chocolate and gravelly minerality found within the folds. It comes together nicely with a bit of air so it clearly has time ahead of it. Finishes with length …

Despite seeing other community notes with much lesser enthusiasm, this 2012 Tresor was an absolute gem to go with our dinner. This Bordeaux blend needed perhaps 5 minutes in the glass. Would love to have had a case, but our memory of one bottle will have to suffice. One of the best reds we've had this year.

Tresor is the top red wine made by Ferrari-Carano, and this 17 year Bordeaux blend from Alexander Valley in Sonoma County is in great shape. Opaque black to the edge with an aromatically refreshing blackberry, black plum, and black cherry. The sip is well integrated and seamless, with upfront rounded tannin and acidity on top of a juicy undertow of fruit. The swallow adds a spike of acid and drying tannin that finishes clean, clear, and long. The fact that …

Just a hard wine not to like. The aromas are present and filled with fresh crushed berries. The mouthfeel is lush and well structured. The flavors are blackberry with a bit of plum. Finish goes on for 30 plus seconds. A modern wine in every sense but I can sense that this wine is NOT built to age and lacks some structure in that regard. It is nevertheless good right now and probably not going to get any better.

immediately after opening the bottle I was impressed by the nose of this wine, deep red fruit and cedar. Supple tannins on the palate softened further 1 hour after decanting, and flavors of vanilla and currant began to take hold. This wine will surely hold up to many more years of cellaring.
