Nose: Blackberry, Licorice and luxurious new oak lends sweet spice. Some chocolate and camphor as well. Palate: Dense entry, broad palate feel and some decent acidity to balance it out. Black fruit and cocoa, vanilla and other oak influenced flavors. Overall this was good, and a 90-92 pt experience. However, I must say it was very "middle of the road" for its price point in Napa. $80 does not get you what it used to in Napa, but many producers …

Visiting Napa (Feb 13th - 17th); 2/13/2014-2/17/2014 (Napa, CA) : Like the SBR Cab this was very tight and hard to evaluate as it was PNP in the tasting room. Nose: Violets, Blackberry, Cassis and some smoke/cigar notes. Perfumed nose is great. Palate: Black fruit driven and nuanced with nice wood and leather notes. Refined yet a bit rough in tannin. Finish: Extremely grippy and tight. Long decant required right now.
