Drank a while back. Focused, sappy but not heavy. Really nice combo of grapes, medium weight and well-made. Solid.

The last five years have not been kind to this wine, based on the evidence of this one bottle. (I didn't detect any specific flaw, though I am still suspicious.) Five years ago, the wine was too young, but rich and rambunctious and a lot of fun to drink. It has spent the intervening years on Wegovy, losing its fleshy voluptuousness and emerging much leaner. There is still a dose of blueberry fruit flavor, edging into cranberry, but the fruit …

Quick decant. Complex herbal nose with lots of dusty earth and dried red fruits. Palate delivers wild black raspberry with a tart edge and tarragon, bouquet garnis, and bay leaf. Herbal flavors continue into the finish with rhubarb, cherry compote, tangerine peel, and notes of thyme before a light, lingering oak ending. A wine that expresses this unusual vineyard, drinking in fine form.

First time with Evangelho. Fun experience, definitely on the red fruit spectrum. The nose and initial hit on the palate lead me to believe there will be ripe zin fruit but the palate has a lot of lift and good tannin to keep everything in balance. There is a certain something here that is unique that I can’t quite call out. I’m sure it has to do with the unique terroir of the Evangelho vineyard. Enjoyable and memorable, maybe I …

Medium garnet, no bricking. Muted aromas of wild strawberry, followed by similar flavors and dusty tannins. Proper, restraint zin. Not much beyond, if you assess the wine on its merit and price point.

Mid-weight with bracing acidity to keep the taste-buds tingling. Found it to be very food-friendly. Update: Gained some “weight” after a day, and tasted even better.

Last of 3 bottles. Purple/dark red in the glass. On nose, cranberry, strawberry, bright cherry and mint notes. On palate, medium+ body, medium(-) acidity, low tannins and nice, long persistent finish. Really enjoyed this. 92-93 range. This wine has improved so far with age.

Tangy red fruit up front, good body. Finish and overall taste was a little tired, faded primary and acidity without a lot of tertiary in return. Cork disintegrated - my fault for going in with the screw instead of the ah-so - so had to finish in 1 day.

Still on the young side, this is concentrated and densely layered, and it takes many hours to open up. Bedrock is consistently fascinating, their project is clearly worth following as closely as possible. Sweet jammy black fruits on the nose, a little leather, lamb fat, herbs, spice... deep and textured on the palate, velvety and thick, structured... long finish of black raspberry, blackberry, black cherry, wild mint, tarry pie drippings.... Magnificent wine, I would love to see this in a …

Revisiting this after about two years since my last note and very impressed. It seems the extra years of integration have helped this wine develop more texture and balance. Flavor profiles are still dark fruit, brambly, and spice driven. Maybe a bit more vanilla this time around. The best part about this wine is its ability to deliver varietal typicity flavor-wise but retain terroir driven freshness, tension and tannin. All in all, a fantastic Zinfandel. Will it get better? Personal …

Deep purple. Wine tears sliding down my glass. Smooth as the surface of a still lake at dawn. Deep and lovely. This Under The Mountain wine is really special in that most vineyards in Silicon Valley, formerly known as the Garden of Heart's Delight (formerly one of the most fertile farmlands in America), actually survives and produces such awesome high quality grapes. This wine is a testament to Morgan Twain-Peterson for making the effort to source these grapes and make …

This was a bit odd. It was quite musty at times making me wonder if it was corked. But then at other times it seemed like it was more complete and like I'd expect. Either way, plenty of acidity and energy.

Tremendous bottle of wine. It clicked all the boxes last night. Zesty fruit, still with some red tone fruitiness intact. Nice acidity, light sandpaper tannins to give it some grip. Some brushy bramble, a little terroir, lithe & athletic. I am happy to consume my last bottle while still quite lively at 6yrs old. Judicious use of oak, the penetrating fruit shines. Nicely done.

Nose of purple fruits, violets, acacia honey, and white flowers. Palate of juicy blue fruits is pulled tight with tartness, as iron, minerals, and strong thyme flavors are pierced by an acidic line. Finish of marble-smooth tannins with mulch and herbs, unripe blueberry, grape jelly, roses, and a dusty ending.

Nose of black raspberry, blueberry, anise seed, and a hint of merthiolate tincture. Fuzzy black raspberry fruit with laurel, thistle, orange peel, and dried thyme with some other tart purple fruit. Layers of dried herbs on the finish with dusty tannins and sun-baked earth, pushing forward with acidity on the balanced, lingering finish.

Purple in color. 14.5% ABV. Big nose of black fruits, citrus and baking spices. Full bodied with medium acidity. Fruit forward and jammy. Black cherry, raspberry, mulberry and pepper on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Not the most complex Bedrock but throughly enjoyable. Best over the next 2-4 years.

Opened, poured and let sit about 45 min. Then: Nose maybe some reddish fruit. Taste is reddish fruit, maybe a little sweetness, but maybe on the low side intensity; soft mouthfeel; tannins and acidity not an issue. Definitely lacking cab profile, or any other profile. Towards the end of the glass (about 30+ min from first sip), tannins surface and become noticeable, but not really a problem. Easy to drink, but disappointed in this bottle; expected more from Bedrock and …

Pretty and delicate aromatics of ripe cherry, blackberry, slight bramble fruit, and a touch of spice. Medium weight on the palate with medium tannin and med+ acidity. This is bright style for a zin blend that I find is characteristic of this particular vineyard. It’s lovely, but fairly light on its feet. Maybe it will improve with a few more years in bottle to gain a little more weight and texture

Decanted for about an hour and ate with some lasagna. Bouquet of red fruit and toast/cedar notes. Raspberry flavor with high acid, medium tannins and finish. Wife noted distinctly wet rock and cedar notes. This was enjoyable and much better with food given the acidity. Given the other notes I will hold my other bottles for several more years.

I am going to Echo a lot of the other notes, this wine is still quite young.Drank this over three days. first day the nose was very muted, most prominently a note of cedar with just a hint of blue fruit. The pallet followed a similar progression. On day three the wind was smooth with still notable structure, excellent acidity. Blue fruit and red fruit as well as savory and earthy characteristics. I would definitely hold onto this for a …

Fresh, perfumed, overtly red. Light grip day 1. Good structure, lingering juicy finish. Seems like some Grenache is in the mix. Glad for the recent reviews which prompted my sampling. What a pleasure. Day 2 sees further integration which sends the tart cherry & raspberry liqueur wafting higher. Judicious use of oak, deft balance. Wish I had several more. This might add savory notes with aging but I’ll be back sooner for the vibrant, well rendered fruit. Great pair with …

Nice red with lower acidity than i would have expected from Santa Clara, and to me the Carignane in this wine is the star. Less Zinfandel spice and more straightforward in style. As a previous review stated, leather and red fruits....ideal with spicy rice and Andouille.

Nose of rhubarb, red raspberry, and dusty red berries. Zesty, rustic red raspberry and pomegranate with plenty of spice, acidity, and tang. Light minerality follows the immediate palate, adding earthy leayers before the tannins kick in with dried red fruit, leather, and and old oak note. Quite balanced right now, this is singing and will likely continue to do so for several more years. I'm sure it develops into a drier and more complex wine, but I'd prefer to drink …

Everything I like in a mature Zin based blend. Black and some red fruits, brambly/stemmy notes... though subtle enough that they don't detract from the beautiful fruit, just add to the complexity, a little bit of leather and a long long finish. Really nice right now.

Decanted for two hours and served at cellar temperature. Initially a very funky nose but this blew off by the time we served food.
