Disg Dec 2017. 6 g/L. Tight upon opening. I was afraid of another 2012 that just didn't want to play. It slowly comes alive showing a nicely maturing BdB. There is some aromas of coffee and marzipan in the background of the classic lemon. Lifted acidity helps make it lively. This finds a spot in between a richer rendition and a the lighter bodied style. Looks to be coming into its happy place but has plenty of runway.

Sadly this is my last bottle of the 2012. This has an incredible QpR value. Can’t wait to taste their 2018.

Lovely again, and my impression is it still has plenty of life to go. It is rather oxidative and grippingly dry, with green apple and firm pineapple flavors. It gets more lemony with a couple hours of air and a little dosage shows as it gets towards room temp. This is no creamy heavyweight but rather a transparent display of the fruit and earth from whence it came. Light-medium gold color with a steady and vibrant mousse. I would like …

Forgot to get the disgorge date but these were all from the same parcel so I assume 12/2017. This was my final bottle, too. A foundation of apples, squeeze of lime, rounded out by honey and mineral. And a congratulations to them on their conversion to organic farming. I respect and admire that commitment.

Light gold color with a generous and lively mousse. Bouquet is full of yeast and warm bread, followed up with apple and citrus. In the mouth, it is both brisk and rich. Really good now and also made to last. The $15 or so uptick from entry-level grower bubbles is well spent. 5+12+17+8= 92

Brought to a large tasting and with around 30 Champagnes didn't pay a lot of attention to it--note from memory. Very fine mousse, green apple, lemon, a hint of toast with excellent acids. Enjoyed and would buy again.

New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Fourth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN) : Small glass. Well, I liked this infinitely more than the last bottle. This was much brighter.

2019 Suntacular--Champagne Tasting to raise money for Laura's House : 4th bottle to date. Disgorged 12/2017. with 6 g/l dosage. Like with past bottles, this has a good core of green pippin apple, spicy/tangy, with some supporting chalk. The acidity in this bottle showed a good persistence, a brightness that I enjoyed.

Suntacular (Frank Murray's Casa) : Rich, buttery nose. Chalky palate. Dry with a medium body. Not quite up there with the '02 in terms of depth but a very good wine on it's own. I'd love to try some other wines from this house.

Third bottle, as I reloaded some a few months ago. Seeing Rocknroller and chablis28 TNs, I decided to give another bottle tonight a go. Disgorged June 2018, 100% Chard from Chouilly with 6 g/l dosage. This bottle showed well, with same lemon peel and fresh apple notes, with the 'dry stone minerals' that chablis 28 made reference to in his (?) TN. This bottle is refreshing, with some honey from the dosage mixing in as the wine warms. I had …

Think I had planned to bring something else to the recent Capital Grill BDX dinner and landed on this instead? Oh well, not a personal favorite tonight as the style was a bit oxidative but it was serviceable. Glad I only bought one of these to try.

Super Seconds and the Like (Capitalle Grille, Mpls, MN) : Light gold color. Drank a small glass over 20 minutes. Lots of apple peel on this, dry stone minerals, oxidative style. Can’t say this was in my wheelhouse.

Drank another this weekend. This continues to impress me for the ease and yet good intensity of the wine. Some bright lemon married against the apple flavors. It works well.

First bottle of two. New producer for me, too. 100% Chardonnay, 6 g/l, disgorged June 2018. Really enjoying this as it has persistent grapefruit and lemon notes, along with green apple as it warms. The texture is mouth filling, with a dollop of lemon drop, too. $50 US for this cuvee, I dig it. Would like to track down the Special Club and Extra Brut to see how these show. Terrific.

champagne trip- Day 4 (Vazart-Coquart, Pertois-Lebrun, Diebolt-Vallois, Pierre Gimmonet) (Chouilly, Cramant, Cuis, Champagne, France) : Nose: The nose is beautifully balanced and poised with red apples, pears, quince, saline, white florals, biscuits, and brioche. There is good depth with a nice richness from the lees notes. Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with zesty, high acidity. The feel is textured and balanced with red apples, pears, quince, saline, brioche, and biscuit notes. Overall: This is a lovely and balanced Champagne. …

Good lord. I haven't scribed a TN in three years. But this has crazy (sense of?) dosage. Honestly feels like an Extra Dry, even a Demi-Sec. Lively, good bead and acid, but WOW it's sweet. Never had a sweet Cote des Blancs before...

Rich Chardonnay fruited core. Dense fruit here that could probably use further aging. Pure and focused.

Pronounced sherry note on the nose along with yeasty bread and dark strawberry. Nice depth and texture to it, but with a pronounced oxidative note. Tasted blind, I thought it must be an older bottle - perhaps a little damaged somewhere along the way?
