Nice nose. Entry is sweet and a bit thin weight although strong flavours of blackberry and Blueberry. Lack of mid mouth and then a leathery, wooden drying finish. Just drying without a lot of finish complexity. I think it is not grape tannin but just wood left. Perhaps typical of a not so elegant overly aged Malbec. Not enough experience to know. Quite fruity entry with a clean finish. Watery and weak mid mouth. A bit of tannins left and a nice acidity remains but definately on its last leg. Drink up now.

Grape juice nose. Rich entry, nice weight to the mouth. A bit chalky mid mouth with rich and tasty sweet fruit. Tannins just a touch green perhaps. Nice bottle. Likely just a couple of years left.

Lovely nose on opening; sweet fruit with a bit of wood. Great entry and very savoury, tasty mid-mouth. Dies quickly. Finish is lacking depth or strength. Pure pleasure score.

Brooding wine. Deep color in the glass. Plums and dark berries on the nose with some animal forest and oak mixed in. Very intriguing nose followed up by slight tannins, and enough acidity to make this good with food and also last a few years. I thought I detected a slight alcoholic note, but I may be mixing this up with some other out of balance element as the label reads 13.5%.

My first foray into Cahors, aided by good advice from the Wine Berzerkers crowd. http://www.wineberserkers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87928 The wine is mostly Malbec, with a bit of Tannat and Merlot, and is listed at 13.5% alcohol. It is a deep, dark purple, with matching nose of plums and blackberries. The taste starts out of brooding, dense, dark fruits, black plums, blackberries and black cherries. Dark ruby colour. Nose of deep fruit and perfectly done vanilla; rich but not at all overdone with a bit of forest floor underneath. Mouth is smooth and very tasty. Ends rich and full of fruit. Nice tannins and acidity. Very well done indeed. An out performer this will appeal to a lot of taste.

No formal notes - This bottle showed much better than my previous one. More concetration, nice balance to it all. But as mentioned by NCO, lacking complexity. Overall a very good wine. Can still last for a couple of years, but I don't think it will improve much.

Scarlet red, some evolution in the color. Dark fruit, toasted wood, herbs and a some leather. On the palate again the same fruits and the wood aroma's clearly showing. Good acidity and ripe tannins. Drink now - 2012.

Auxerrois (Malbec) 86%, Merlot 7%, Tannat 7% Rich inky dark purple. Strong aroma plums, black cherry, some heat; some leather and oak. Fairly forceful tannins. Tangy tart blackberry fruit, with long mineral finish, some black olive. Will last a long time.

Similar to last tasting of this wine in September 09. A bit of a harsh edge that might be unpleasant to some. Age might mellow this wine, but in the meantime it is drinkable now with perhaps a bit of time in the bottle uncorked....perhaps 30-45 minutes.

Very concentrated and dark, this wine is a bit austere and drinking young, although already 5 years on. Core of dark cherries and raspberries with some coffee and chocolate notes leading to a long finish. An excellent value, but might be a bit harsh for the tastes of some.

Berries and a whiff of balsamic vinegar leap from the glass from this blackish wine. It's ripe, full-bodied, and shows a bit of oak, but is well structured and has some nice sticky tannins that give it great shape and texture. I'd love to come back to this in 3-5 years.
