Fine bubbles. Beautiful golden colour. Brioche, bruised apples, honey suckle. Harmonious and well balanced. Really started to peak about 60mins after opening. Medium finish. Acidity suggests that it’ll last for another 5 years at least. Excellent QPR.

Late disgorge with years of bottle age. Beautiful golden color. Abundant leesy and biscuit notes, some honey and hint of caramel. Ripe citrus and light red berries and apricot too. Good weight, righ with creamy and cheesy flavour? Noticeable sweetness from dosage which balanced well with the fine acid.

All soft edges and charm, but little to make you stop and think. The fruit is mellow, the texture polished, the finish easy - but the overall impression fades quickly. Pleasant in the moment, forgettable by the next glass.

Has some age character and fermenty flavors from time on lees, but not nearly as much sherry as I anticipated (much less than the Launois Severine we opened). Oddly, I got a lot of “red flavors” (hibiscus, strawberry, pomegranate?), to the extent I’d have called it a rosé if blind-folded. As a late disgorgement, I had some concern that it had been in my locker too long, but it’s fine: plenty of acid and lively fruit. Good for at least …

NobleRottersSydney - Hunter semillon & shiraz (Glass Brasserie, Sydney) : {cork, 12.5%} [DavidM] Disgorged Jul-17. Deep yellow. Advanced nose of smelly cheese. Quite maderised in fact. Broad palate, flavours of bread and cheese. Medium/full weight, medium acid, medium/large creamy bubbles – nothing wrong technically or structurally if you like. But it’s very advanced for flavour, despite an even palate and medium length finish. Might be verging on faulty, might just be an acquired (stylistic) taste.

Disgorged 2018. 70/30 Chard/PN. Pours light yellow, no visible signs of age. High acid, chalky salty a little spiciness (oak? pinot?). Light toast and some raspberry jam but mostly green apple and lemon. Very precise, not bold/rich. Kind of like a Chablis with bubbles. As it warms more red fruit (Strawberry/Raspberry). The 30% PN is doing a lot of work here it seems. As it warms and nearing end of bottle more brioche comes out. Finish is a bit short. …

This is a very good champagne for being 22 years old. I wouldn't have guessed the age from the flavor, but the lower level of bubbles did give away the age. This is a very balanced wine, however, the body is lighter than I expected from the 2002 vintage. The brioche along with some minerality are there. This is a very good wine, but not a wow wine.

This was very nice, but obviously not as nice as the bottle that the Minneapolis crowd opened recently. Good fruit and intensity, crisp acidity, drinking youthfully. I thought it was very good, but not special. If served to me at an event I never would have guessed 02 and might not have even asked what it was.

PNP. Pale golden color. Marzipan and cantaloupe are the dominant notes. Moderate level of fine bubbles. Dry palate, with nice acidity. My notes aren’t doing this justice. This is one of the better Champagnes I’ve ever had. Joe brought this to a “hedonistic wine night” at MN Wine Junkie’s home. Such a fun night. MNWJ organized this to suit my palate and it was right on the money. So fun…

Big Style Wines (Jason's House, MN) : This was drinking really well with spice, lemon, lime, chalk and pie crust. Complex effort and nice acidity. Drinking well right now but could easily go another decade.

Big Red's : This was as good as this bottling has been, maybe the best bottle I've had? Quite crisp and dry, great acidity and minerality. Fruit and yeast give it body. It surprisingly held its own next to 2008 Cristal, although the Cristal was not quite as nice as other bottles I've been able to try.

Hedonistic Wines! (Jason's House) : PnP This was an awesome bottle of this Champagne! It exemplifies why 2002 is considered one of the best vintages in Champagne and is still going strong! An excellent bottle from a stellar vintage....what more could you ask for? It showed nice toasted bread and straw on the nose with notes of sea breeze. On the palate, you were treated to poached pear, citrus, melon and some stone fruit and oyster shell with some Unami. …

Grand cru 70% chard & 30% PN, dosage 6g/L. Disg. end of 2019. Chard from Avize, Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Cramant & Oger. PN from Verzenay. Soft, fleeting mousse. Med. yellow gold color that is indicative of its age, but not overly so. Small bead that dissipates quickly - the 2nd half of the bottle didn't have much in the way of bubbles even with the stopper. Citrus and a bit of yeastiness on the nose. On the palate, yellow apples, green pear, …

Super fresh Granny Smith apple, lemon, and some fresh herbs on the nose. Some toasty notes, but much more racy than rich. Vibrant, crisp bubbles. The entire group was unfamiliar with Lanson, and none guessed it was as old as 10 years, much less 20+.

Good not great, Pinot-heavy, golden color, slightly heavy, clumsy with age coming on; still, quite nice, yeasty, sour-dough, nectarine/apricot with slight cooked apple. Cotsens blind night. 91-92

Lots of variation in this bottle. I had a great toasty and long one a month ago. One that was definitely over the hill a week ago and this one, which was nice but not as toasty and long as the first one. So the wine is yellow color, still with nice bead, decent acidity and apricot fruit. Some toasty notes but very modest in this bottle. A bit on the sweet side when the burnt sugar does not help …

Smells and tastes great. Full og life and bubbles. Still young but with emerging aged complexity such as starting secondary notes and a well integrTed dosage, but some time before the tertiery notes will appear. Disgorgement 06/2016

Medium yellow in color. Expressive on the nose showing yellow orchard fruits, brioche, lemon and nut oils and faint hint of truffles. Quite vinous on the palate with good depth to the savory crushed peach, honeyed lemon peel, good acidity and a long toast/nuts inflected finish.

Brought to a restaurant, shared with friends. Same bottle as RockNRoller. This was drinking very nicely and a step up from a bottle last month. Green apple, tangerine, toasted almond, slight oxidation (I find this to be a Lanson style) but plenty of acids. Effervescence seems to dissipate after 10 or 15 minutes but it is still a striking wine.

All Saints at All Saints (All Saints, Mpls, MN) : Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was brighter and more expressive than a bottle from 4 years ago. Aging gracefully and showing nicely. Green apple, chalk, bread dough, mild toast. On the palate this has a nice tang, apple, aplle peel, biscuit, dough, and just touch of an oxidative note. 92+ to 93pts.

Opened for daughter's 21st B-Day. Aging gracefully. Shows a little plum or dates on the nose with toasted almonds and lemon. On the palate lemon, sea spray, toasted almonds, pineapple and brioche. Bubbles disappeared after 5-10 minutes and it drinks like a crisp dry wine. Still zippy 21 years on. HBD kiddo!

Beautiful champagne from a great vintage (2002). Enjoyed at Bresca DC. Starting to really show some age, slightly darker color and sweeter, toffee like flavors. Amazing QPR - picked up for $128 at Total Wine. Drink now or in the next ~5 years.

Made the mistake of pouring this with a meal of grilled salmon and roasted corn-on-the-cob. It was OK, but underwhelming. Finishing the bottle after dinner it came into its own. Light style, perfect aperitif. If I went to someone's home and they handed me this as a welcome glass, I would be coming back every day until they ran out.

Feels like this is starting to show some maturity as it has mellowed and lost its citric edge to reveal a touch of toffee. Fine balance and while not a knock-out a quite complete and satisfying 20 year old champagne.

Deep golden body. Enticing bouquet of bright fruits (pineapple, lemon and grapefruit zest), oysters, sea shells, white truffles, roasted almonds and brioche. Generous palate with freshness and roundness. Given current prices for this vintage, this is an absolute steal.
