What a tasty Gamay. Unique presentation from N. Rhône. Very rich Rainier cherry, good herbal notes and a light finish with just the right amount of acid. Good now and easily for 5 or more years.

Dried raisin and red fruit leather aromas. Light, clear, raspberry red. Delicate and delicious. Zippy yet has depth. Red fruit and leather. It’s really simple but really good. Goes amazingly well with Field Roast log. Very nice.

On the lighter side, with a satisfying personality. Not mind blowing yet charmingly so.

May have held this a bit long. Still hascfruit and acid driven freshness. Some obvious natural funk on nose. Some smoke, cranberry, cherry. Palate juicy, funky, mineral and crunchy, mushroom, good fruit.

Maybe a little too young. Very tart and structured. Notes of underripe plum and cranberry. Fruit forward yet very dry. Light finish. Nice but should improve over the next couple years.

Sulphur, strawberry, juniper, and fig on the nose. Lively and energetic on the palate, but still quite rich, especially in the midpalate. Seemed mildly sweet and jammy on the palate as well, which I guess fits with the warm vintage, but it’s not at all cloying. Fine.

Nose blood orange, apricot, cherry, red raspberry, mineral. Speaks of a natural wine. Crunchy minerals. Palate with bright acidity, strong red fruit character. The is certainly a style not to everyone's palate - but I am quite pleased with it.

Two years ago I thought this wine was okay - not so last night. My wife gave me hers saying, simply, "I don't like this." I agree. It was unpleasantly green-stick and stemmy. The acidity was out of balance and it seemed a bit frizzy, which perhaps indicates some in-the-bottle fermentation but it didn't look like it or taste like it. Maybe an off bottle, to give it the benefit of the doubt. Not sorry it was my last one.

Complete bottle of gamay. Full of varietal typicity, complete, round, delicious wine. Cherry with a strong, green, mouthwatering acidic spine. Really like this wine.

Last bottle of three, this seems to have evolved from that rustic and northern Rhone-leaning gamay to a more typival gamay of the fresh, fruity and natural variety. Hardly any tannin and lowish acidity, in a 12% ABV body, makes it an overall smooth drink. With hours of air, seems to take on a mousy taint that of course detracts from the enjoyment.

Distinct smell of green lovage and green pepper. Herbaceous, juicy and refreshing, with a slightly hollow midpalate. Quite consistent with the bottle two months ago.

Almost two years since our previous bottle, and it has changed for the worse. Now more obviously herbaceous and stemmy in a negative way as the fruit is fading. Still not all bad if you can live with the greenness, but it's time to drink up. Bottle variation an issue here?

Cassoulet at Bill's (Wilmette, IL) : From magnum. The gamay aspect of this wine offends me much less than the stemmy ladybuggy greenness. There's some white pepper here and red fruit, but it's really that green stemminess that makes this wine so unpleasant. The palate is a little thin and just smacks you with acid. I really don't get what the fuss is about this stuff.

Same magnum, but a very different take than ACYSO. I found this to be a very complete and distinctive wine. The fruit and approachability of Gamay with the wildness and pepper of the Northern Rhone. Round, lush and juicy though not heavy. Delicious and better with food.

Wild, earthy, peppery, slightly leathery Gamay. Would've loved to pair this with strong fare such as Andouillette. A bold wine that deserves a bold meal.

Funky! Woodsy, mineral, touch of Brett on the nose. Palate is pomegranate and raspberry. Finish is funky from what I think is the Brett plus a nice mineral energy. The sort of selection I expect from Rimmerman - I like this one.

A bit brighter and less wild than the 2012 I had a few weeks ago. Smells like mushroom, herbs, spice drawer, chorizo, on top of tangy black cherries and strawberries. Dusty, tangy, crisp, this is such a pleasant and refreshing wine but it's packed with cool flavors. Tart cherries and raspberries topped with black pepper, grilled herbs, bloody steak, wet soil. Another fascinating, funky example of this unique Gamay.

Accidentally grabbed this when I was going to check in on the 2015... Didn't find this bottle as syrah-like as the last, but it is still a quite rustic and pure expression of Gamay.

Easily placed as Gamay, but influenced by its terroir to take it to a more rustic version of the varietal - high acidity, and some meaty peppery notes reminiscent of Syrah. Very good and I think it will improve with short term aging.

Beautiful nose - violets, thyme, liquorice, pepper, nutmeg - very northern Rhône even if the variety is Gamay. Lovely balance of freshness, fruit and a light yet well-built structure. So delicious. Love it!

This bottle is far better than my bottle just 4 months ago. I find this absolutely slurpable and delicious. This wine is never a deep, complex wine, but is still hugely enjoyable and pure. It is a delicate, lovely expression of pure harmonious fruit and minerality. Not strongly in flavor, but impeccably balanced. I could drink this every day of the week and not complain. It is a bit expensive for the level of complexity, but when you consider how …

Enjoyed it. T, not so much, ok only. Clearly from Rhone flavor & aroma-wise. Still the gamay is obvious, too. Takes getting used to. Has dried fruit and somewhat oxidized nose. I like that it's not overly polished & tastes "home-made." Fruit works with lamb/beef. Has bright acidity so it's also flexible and not an earthy, leathery red.

The color is a muddy Burgundy red emerging from a tight black. The nose is wildly feral with smoke, cut weeds, and tiny red berries. The taste is bitter bing cherry with notes of persimmon and hints of blood orange. Highly acidic, just this side of sharp. This wine does caress the palate. It pricks it with a sharp needle of flavor. Striking. $35 Retail www.austinbeeman.com

A bit thin, so decanted for a half hour. It really opened up, like bright red cherries and fresh rainfall on asphalt. Medium plus acidity.

This wine was not anywhere near as good as the 2010 incarnation of it, but I did have that bottle with a bit more age. I'll try and let my last bottle of this rest for a few more years. This wine was fairly simple, light, and angular. Now I like angular wines, but they also need to have some compelling depth to them, which this did not. The flavors bordered on the green side of things. It did gain …

Tasty, fresh. Alive on roof of mouth. Bright cherry notes. Suspect these need just a touch more time to settle and cohere as this was more disjointed and thinner than previous vintages I've had.

(Brunner@Derek's) Funky sour cherry, hawflakes, chook poo. Chewy tannins, bright acid, seville orange bitter, ash, chinese dried dates. Finishes clean. Interesting - a Gamay from the Rhône.
