Potentially flawed bottle, as it showed signs of slight heat damage on the cork (despite the label being pristine) -- I guess it's what you get from auctions. Still quite oak dominant, the finish when the bottle first opens is pure oak, to the point where it builds up to being bitter. Some vegetable notes prominent. Fruit is pretty ripe, a bit like sugar soaked/maybe slightly stewed strawberries (all quite drinkable, nothing seems particularly off about this). Not much about …

Surprisingly youthful medium translucent red ruby clear w some brilliance, mint strawcherry w/ hint of cinnamon aromas and flavors spread on nice ample but supportive-only tannins and excellently brisk aidity. Quite a vindication for cellar keeping as this in seems to be taking to its 55 degree slumber.

Tons of Gevrey spice with a core of very dark cherry fruit, lots of lift on the finish rounding this out well. Drinks super but lots of upside for those with more patience. Sorry it was my last bottle of this wine, but I’ll let the ‘10 sleep much longer

Brought to In Situ dinner with Robert and Elaine. Excellent wine that's stood the test of time. Well balanced, still has hints of cherry and tobacco.

*Drunk tasting note. Drunk next to a 12 DuMol Sonoma coast pinot. This had more earth and complexity, but obviously nowhere near the fruit. With food this wine was the winner. With sunset and a hot college chick that I was hoping to get to know better, go with the DuMol.

Group Wine Tasting - Group preferred the Peter Michael Pinot. Unfair as this was well past its prime

nose - funky and earthy mouth - bright cherry and quite acidic as pointed out by J. Nice enough

nose - charcoal, bacon, barnyard, funk. off-putting to to others (not me) mouth - sweet, voluptuous, surripe, sexy wine, reminiscent of fruit which is yummy ripe yet approaching early rot. i detect a hint of VA on this wine which wile not a flaw at this stage, makes it a wildcard for future consumption. hints of char on the finish. next bottle in 5 years..., or tomorrow?

Ruby garnet color in my glass right now. This bottle emotes secondary aromatics right now, with hints of both primary and secondary aromatics. I get Asian five spice, ripe black cherry, and a little funk that reminds me of the grill a day after a big steak cookout on extra high heat! Tannins were warm and textured, Improved after 2 hours open.

We had this with our duck on Xmas Day and stole the show at the table. This was just remarkably perfumed, and then seamless on the palate, with all manner of red fruit, earth and woody notes parading around. It may have lacked a certain depth of flavor, and perhaps it wasn't the longest in finish, but boy was this a totally enjoyable bottle. I wish I had another. Such a treat. Real class in the glass.

Med bright ruby, restrained nose and flavors that eventually loosened up a little along after an hour or so though never becoming extroverted. Tightly coiled crisp cranberry and cool menthol and touch of florality notes. Not the last word in concentration but a very pretty wine of feminine demeanor.

Oaky nose at start then turned more dark fruits. Light and lack the depth on palate. However it went well with food and dessert. Medium finish.

Deep ruby, very primary. Christmas spices, anise and creosote much more than fruit aromas. Medium weight. A bit raspy at first when cool, then a lean but more harmonious feel. Black fruit and ground coffee come out later. Tannins seem partially resolved. Interesting but certainly not great-could use just a tad more generosity.

Once out of the bottle, quite oaky and woodsy but then this opened up to reveal some interesting rose petal, baking spices and the airy perfume seen in Beaux Monts. Good tactile spiciness along with black cherry fruits and in a relatively dense style. A bit contrived. 90-91 points.

Some nice notes on nose and hints of minerality and spice but overall a bit thin and short on finish.
