Sehr schönes Bouquet, recht starker Holzeinsatz. Vollmundig und rotbeerig. Allerdings baute er recht schnell ab.

2016 vintage

Bought 2b for 14 euros/b at Schipol airport on Sept. 7, '03; this is #1. Solid cork. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple; rich, mature red fruit nose and body, very good mouthfeel. Remarkably good for aged, everyday Bdx--glad to have one more. Passive subterranean storage since purchase. Quality/age/price: Notable+.

2000 vintage

Better the first night. Night two, still some fruit, but tastes watery, with some heat/harshness on the back end. So don't give this too much air time. Good value at $20.

A tremendous value that’s drinking beautifully right now (2024). A perfect steak wine. Blood red in color and just a bit cloudy. With a little aeration, bursts with dark fruit (blackberry, black currant, and huckleberry), cocoa powder and “good” dark chocolate, and freshly ground Tellicherry peppercorn. En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Seven (Bordeaux) : Plummy, sweet spice, a little biscuit, slightly on the ripe side, a little soft red berry in support. Medium plus intensity acidity, quite savoury on the palate, a a little bitterness attached to the silky tannins, broad, fruit muted and a touch of alcohol warmth on the finish. Hmm

Medium-bodied, fresh, lifted, and fully developed, the wine is loaded with sweet, ripe, fresh dark currants with a touch of chocolate, cigar wrapper, and spice, leaving you with a solid, round, long, fruit-filled finish. This is a true steal in the marketplace. If you are seeking a mature Left Bank Bordeaux that won't break the bank, this is it. Drink from 2023-2031.

Ruby red colour with a red brim. Nose is quite contained, spicy, with quite a lot of oak and some notes of cloves and cassis. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, spicy, taste quite contained, fine-grained tannins, good acidity and notes of cloves and some cassis and cherries. By the glass. A classic claret, traditional and easily recognizable. Simplicity but with a delicious aftertaste to be enjoyed at the table. My previous experience with this Château was that it is not a wine to be cellared. Por copas. Un clarete clásico, tradicional y fácilmente reconocible. Sencillez pero con un delicioso regusto para disfrutar a la mesa. Mi experiencia anterior es que no es un vino de guarda.

Bordeaux 2000 tasting, wine #7: corked but still drinkable. Red fruit, high acidity, damp cellar, wet grass.

The nose is a bit closed and somewhat odd in fact, peanut like ... Bacteria? Alas we did not have another sample. A blackberry juiciness is pleasing however, so let us give a benefit of the doubt. Note reserved.

Deep brick red. Savoury bouquet, with some sweet dark fruits: baked black plum, fruitcake and warm earth. Fairly rich on the palate with more plums and firm, angular texture going to a metallic note on the finish. There is smatterings of dark chocolate, classic lemon acidity and some cedar but overall a iron fillings, ferruginous character pervades like being into tin foil, lacks a little weight, a ripe year but seems surprisingly stringy. Should have been drunk.

Sunday Brown Bag Tasting: Lytton Springs Zinfandel vertical (C's) : Garnet color. Red fruit dominates the bouquet and palate. Has a green vegetal undertone that borders on being too green, a bit more and it would be distracting. Tobacco and earthy notes as well. Finishes just a little short. Drink now-2015.

Probably at peak or just past it. Enjoyed with our main course during Sunday supper at JCT with friends. Was quite lovely after about an hour in the bottle. Older Bordeaux nose, with dark fruits and mushrooms on the palate. Started to close down by the end, but overall a solid QPR

This was still youthful and tannic. Softened up after pouring through a Vinturi aerator, and was excellent with filet mignon. Good Haut-Medoc from the 2000 vintage, but limited by a short finish and straightforward fruit/oak flavors.

very smooth texture and soft on the palate - I would recommend decanting this for some time before drinking (2+ hours) as it was continuly opening up as we drank it
