This is finally starting to mature and come around. Reductive notes and oak still remain but they’ve intégrâted with the fruit so that dark cherry and deep woodsy notes share the nose. Palate maturing now with good acid and tannins supporting a dark cherry fruit core. My impression is of a winemaker that tried a bit too hard for the fruit they had. Still a commendable wine. And good value.

Nose black cherry and plum, reductive, burnt tires, and substantial toasted oak notes. Palate smoky, dark fruit, good mineral, but also reductive and oaky, but not a sweet oak. Tannins still quite present. Not a terribly fun wine at this stage, but I think with some age still, it may well come around.

Great QPR in Burgundy white. Very clean and easy drinking, with lemon-lime spritz, minerals, flowers, hints of wood. Lovely acidity, no heat. Highly recommended.

A little reticent when popped and poured. With a decent airing in the glass , there are aromas of flowers, cherries, crystallised rose petals, raspberry sherbet, that savoury beetroot quality, and hints of earthy mushroominess. On the palate , there are smooth flavours of cherries with a kick of residual tannin and acidity at the end . A gentle mature Pinot that accompanies food perfectly.

Lemon turning gold in glass. Bright, mineral-driven nose with white flower blossoms and mere hints of just-under ripe stone fruits. Lively acidity on this wine. Plenty of life left. Just below ripe white peach, apricot and Asian pear flavors with a hint of pea sprouts and a slight hint of honeyed creme brulee crust. The aftertaste offers hints of the oak with light spice and toast but it finishes super clean with great acid throughout. Looking forward to enjoying it …

Bastille Weekend Recent Release Burgundy; 7/14/2017-7/15/2017 (Dig Wines and K&L Wines, San Francisco) : Light ruby, pale edge. Brambly. Light to medium weight. Light black fruit with reasonable ripeness, anise, and oak char. Good at this level, but the wood sneaks up on you and dominates the finish.
