Meine letzte (und beste) Flasche. Reif in der Farbe. Ziegelfarbiger Rand, sehr dichter/dunkler Kern.

Gone beyond repair. Nice wine back in the day buys time to toss, unfortunately.

Eine ganz grossartige Flasche! Malz, Banane, Karamell, Zedern und Cassis in der Nase. Sehr dunkelfruchtig.

More or less fully mature. A slight whiff of mouldy cellar initally but that fades, revealing mature red and blue fruit - cassis, cherry, blueberry, plum - just a hint of remaining tannins and quite a lot of forest floor and decaying leaf. A touch of sandalwood, leather and iron. Medium body, acidity and lenght. Very good for what it is, but not up there with the greats. This bottle more evovled than last, so some bottle variation at play …

Beautiful dark garnet-ruby color. Soft mixed berries and a bit of plum on the nose. Very tasty with plums, mulberries, and a touch of leather. perfectly aged now but has significant life ahead of it.

Whow!

Some Special Bottles with a (Mostly) New Crew (Los Angeles) : Served blind. Great concentration, with signature Cabernet notes of cassis and black cherry along with some graphite and a touch of smoke. No noticeable oak. I called Left Bank, maybe a Pauillac like Lynch Bages. A tremendous performance, and given no tertiary notes this one may last a long while if you can find any.

Still showing deliciously. This has been a velvety joy, crushed damsons etc. A lovely wine.

Dark rose petal and garnet red. Red fruits and musty wine casks on the nose; seriously, this smells like the basement of an old chateau. Sour mush red fruits such a pomegranate, cranberries, and raspberries dominate with an underlying basement musk. Interesting.

On the nose cassis, sandalwood, charcuteries and iron. Somewhat restrained but detailed with some depth. On the palate more power with deep, generous fruit. Lots of blueberries, blackcurrants, mulberries. Still quite pronounced tannins. Some secondary note but no tertiary silkiness yet. Some wood but not overpowering. Medium+ lenght. No hurry to drink up.

Opening two bottles for a dinner. No discernable difference between them. This shows blackcurrant - both berries and leaves - light tobacco, sandalwood, light spice and hints of mushrooms. On the palate still quite big fruit, medium + tannins and an earthy minerality with iron and graphite. Medium lenght. These bottles has been stored in professional storage since release untill six months ago and does not feel tired at all. I would say this is on its plateau and will …

I am a bit sad to say that this wine has faded considerably since I had it last. Still dark but with fruit fading and wood tannins shining. This is my last bottle, and I still have half left under Coravin. Hopefully this is not a great example, as prior bottles have been stellar.

A real tour de force, in prime drinking shape, with concentrated cassis, cherry, graphite and a touch of smoke. Highly underrated IMO. First class stuff.

Drying out. Notes of pencil lead and cassis in the bouquet and on the palate with some chalky tannins at the back of the throat. Dusty finish. Most of the fruit has dropped out, suggesting this is past prime. That said, past time to drink up. (= Pass, as it sits in the glass today)

In a very nice spot right now. Compelling nose has lots going on with dark fruit, spice, mineral, herb, cigar box and wood smoke. Palate is medium bodied and just slightly lean/hard out of the gate, but softens with time. Good with food.

Deep, dark red with no bricking. Nose of fruit and alc. Very full in the mouth, but the somewhat coarse tannins overpower the fruit.

This opens up wonderfully after 3 hours. Full nose of dried plum, herb, cigar ash, tar, bell pepper and a hint of smoky wood. Palate has medium body with fruit that is maturing and starting to recede. Suave, soft tannin and light juicy acids. In a fine spot. I will drink my final bottle in the next 12-18 months.

Reignac Vertical; 2/7/2016-2/24/2016 : Opaque crimson color. Straightaway, this has a beautiful brooding aroma of mulberries, seasoned meat, rosemary, shoe polish, and the faintly sour smell of Trappist ale. There's a noticeable heat on the nose as well. By comparison, the palate is fairly thin and astringent, with a green tinge remaining and a somewhat bitter finish. Decanting did little to ameliorate the problem. This is the first bottle of my intended 2001-2005 Reignac vertical; I hope the remaining vintages …

I am loath to admit it, because this wine is so obviously made to please RP, but I REALLY enjoyed this bottle. Voluptuous, soft tannins, lovely fruit taste (which lasted for ages) and just a great glass of wine. A real success. At peak now, but no real hurry.

A great bottle. Great color, bouquet and tasted balanced with rich flavor. Amazing it was 13 years old and only 13% alcohol. Gee, and I thought you needed 15% to get flavor. The wine was great to the last drop in the bottle. Drank with steak and baked oysters. Would drink again if I can find it. Reignac is an interesting wine as they make another wine called Chateau de Reignac which gets confused in ratings by most wine publications.
