Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées

This was a delicious pairing with grilled herbed cod and salad niçoise on a gorgeous Friday night at the cottage. Phillipe is the son of Marc Colin, a top Chassagne producer. Book Club - Grand Finale (FMIII in the OC) : Blind: guessed white Burgundy. There was some debate about whether this was California or France. It screamed French to me. Some thought it might be Chenin or Chablis. The nose on this screams white Burgundy and as soon as the flint and matchstick aromas hit the olfactory it was difficult to move me. Very distinctive. Medium weight with pear and pineapple flavors. Very nice.

Some wines with friends (My House In The South OC) : Poured blind. Smoky, toasty aromatic. Moderately glossy texture, with yellow apple and lemon oil. Brig also noted flint, which was a good call. All of that led me to think White Burg. Showing nicely at this stage and ready to drink.

Delicious. Tip Top quality. No problem to hold further, much further.

Fascinating to compare this vintage to the 14/15 duo. Here we have a wine made before the Producer's plan to improve the viticulture and winery was implemented. The difference really shows, this wine is pretty much your standard low-end CM 1er Cru offering, and the leap in quality with these improvements is very dramatic indeed!!! A pleasant enough wine with no real faults, but there are better values out there for the money.

Great example of moderately priced Premier Cru Chassagne Montrachet with a bit of bottle age. Shy aromas on the nose, however shows a great example of sliced white mushrooms which was fun to experience. On the palette, nothing mind blowing, but delicious and enjoyable. Drink now, do not decant.

Its big and hazenutty, not premoxed but certainly has the hazelnut off the cork pull.

Average. Good acidity. Peach overtones. Bought it because it was on sale at USD55. Would not probably buy again, although there was nothing wrong. Was just hoping for more. Maybe I should have cellared it a bit longer.

Really good stuff Nose is slightly deceptive as it's very floral. Much more serious on the palate. Lots of structure and complexity. Some great flavours on the palate. w Left wanting more.

Chalkiness on the nose. Lots of fruit. Good acidity. More puligny in style?
