Stunning Rioja. Very complex nose of sun-warmed earth, tobacco, burnt toast, and perhaps even some nutmeg. Big and aggressive. Moderately tannic. Smokey cranberries in the mouth. Concentrated, focused, and masculine. Rustic Spain in a glass. Drinking now but will hold and gain complexity. Wish I had more. Paired with spice-rubbed salmon over wild rice with oranges and pumpkin seeds.

A deep dark reddish garnet body; bricking. Slight browning at the rim. Blackberry, black currant, leather, licorice, hints of expresso, cigar box/oak. Powerful and intense fruit in the mouth. The wine is somewhat resolved, but the tannin seems as noticeable as when I tasted the same wine on 7/22/2012. The finish is long, but not quit as soft as when I last tasted it just over a year ago on 12-30-2012. The wine has a few years left for appreiation.

Very solid and intense herbs, spice, toffee, oak aroma. Firm taste of dark plum, dark chocolate. dark plum and blackberry. Muscular style. Tannin was quite hard and bitter at first. Better to hold for a few years more. Rioja but toro style. Strong alcohol backbone and well managed spiciness. Some potential to develop in next few years.

Cork was crumbling despite good cellaring. After straining and clean-up (!) the wine was exceptional. One of those experiences that leaves you wishing you had purchased more. The wine was nuanced , but always in balance. 94 pts

Beautiful mature bouquet with sweet spices, some licorice, and some pleasant barnyard. Very tempting bouquet. On the palate still dark fruits, some herbs and also autumn impressions. The tannin has still a good bite. Ready now and it will deliver over the next 3+ years.

Very dry cork which totally disintegrated; used a wine strainer to remove cork pieces prior to an hour decant. Very dark in color, but definitely showing some bricking and slight cloudiness from age. Big aromas of smoke, leather, licorice, black coffee, dark chocolate, spicy red and black currant, and plum, with hints of earth and some slight minty greenness. Definitely felt like a blend , could be anything from an international blend from the new world to an IGT which I thought it was or Spanish reds do have that potential to be very internationalised in style as well. Partially extracted fruits with cabernet merlot fruit nuances. Not too bad with moderate length and fine powdery chalky texture.
