La Viarte Friuli Colli Orientali Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso

Very dark in the glass, looks like Syrah or Malbec. Purple core leads to fading magenta, showing just a touch of age at the rim. Is this really 9 years old? N - blackberry, black cherry, black pepper, pressed flowers (violet?), dried leaves, ceylon cinnamon. P - more dark berry fruit, huckleberry, dried blueberry, graphite, oolong. Some warmth, pretty high octane. Plenty of acidity here, like a blackberry that looks ripe but isn't quite, framing slightly rustic tannins. A hint …

Sweet floral aromas on a base of dark plum and dry heath. Dense fruit on the palate with great clarity and and prickling acid base, sweet tannic rise at the back, lingering resonant finish. Simple, bright, delicious with street tacos.
