Edmond Vatan, Sancerre, Clos Neore

Surprisingly light color. Gorgeous nose with quite ripe fruit, peaches, lemon, and some tropical notes. Great acidity on the palate with similar flavors, a distinct passion fruit note, lemon, and orange. Long finish. This was super interesting. Clearly on the riper side, but very well balanced. This was in a great spot.

Monday, May 28, 2001 Interesting bottle and label. The bottle is a stout, deep green high shouldered bottle. No capsule and just a cap of wax on the cork and lip. Color of pale moon; almost water white. Strong mineral and subtle boxwood smells. Limestone, mineral and lemon-lime flavors with a finish of a light cream. A very light wine. Not my style of Sancerre, but enjoyable. With mustard pepper chicken with herb sauce. 5/28/01.
