Definitely mellowing & trailing off, like most zins do at this age. Drink up.

It's fine. But I can't stop comparing these to WA state offerings, which blow this away at the price point.

The '16 old vines stack up to some of the lesser vintage single vineyard zins.

PnP. Smoke and dark fruits on the nose. Raspberry and plum. Fruity start to palate with cherry and blackberry everywhere. Give way to some Smokey leather in the mid. Cherries and a touch of anise finish with medium to medium Kong tannins that linger but don't dry until a good w minutes pass. Had with truffle pasta and garlic bread which really chopped the tannins in half.

very similar to my 1/13/2021 TN. PnP - initially plummy and pruny but that transitioned to a modern, delicious Zin at its peak.

This wine fills that niche’ of when you just want a balanced, but rich, sappy, fruit driven Zin. Raspberry, white pepper, licorice, long finish. A pure delight. Prime time. Drink.

From magnum at a magnificent dinner with W&S at Castelli’s in Palm Springs. Drinking perfectly right now, this is at peak. More refined than Zin deserves to be. Roses and violets in the bouquet and offers strained blackberries, apricots and peaches throughout. Outstanding.

Opened for post Thanksgiving plates of Spaghet. Very dark, thick and brambly. Very nice palate of blacks and blues, full bodies with a little well integrated heat. Jammy but not a bomb. You can savor the old flavors in this one.

Had 2 of these, one on Friday and one Saturday of this Hurricane weekend. Th first one was very good, 93 - great fruit, mouthfeel, light after taste - just a great wine. Saturday's fruit was a little weaker, more like a 88-89. Holding up well.

Not the best of OVs. On the nose, blackberry, smoke, pepper, and an odd whiff of chlorine. Palate offers some raspberry with the blackberry, and a note of unsweetened chocolate, marred by an antisceptic aftertaste.

Deep, dark, aromatic, rich, powerful, with lovely notes of anise and chocolate under blackberry pie. Tannins are slight, long finish. Alcohol 15.5 % completely covered; does not taste hot. Now is the time to drink this bad boy.

In great shape. Best Turley in a while. Has grip, engaging black fruit core, fresh crushed berry aromatics that turned toward deeper toned notes. Ready now but could also age 1-3 years potentially without losing its punch. Surprised, and disappointed, I didn't have more of this one. Delicious.

Agree with most of the other notes. All of Turley elements, just a bit toned down when compared to the single vineyards. Still a very nice wine and a great value. No need to keep this one around any longer....but mine typically dont last this long anyway!! Day 2: EXACTLY THE SAME! Nice.

Consistent with all my Turley notes. I think Turley Old Vines is the best value in wine. Great flavors, structure, finish and complexity all for around $25. Held up as well third night under pump as first. Drinking window is probably accurate. Next year or two if you have it. No reason to wait.

Pretty nice, but didn't blow us away. Agree peppery, spice, better than medium-bodied. The 15.5% alcohol was quite well-integrated, it did not strike us as a high alcohol heat bomb. It did strike us as somewhat young and didn't open up as well as we'd like. Our bad, as we didn't let it breathe or decant as much as it likely deserved. Paid $28, neither a bargain or over-priced. On the fence as to whether we would buy again, we …
