Pop and pour. Largely secondary/tertiary now. On the nose: muddled red fruit, soft cocoa powder, mushroom stock, and perfumey. On the palate: amazing acidity, velvety red fruit, mint/cocoa powder, attenuated tannin on the very long finish. Absolutely gorgeous.

Epic Blind Tasting with Great Buds (Virginia) : Spicy cherries, raspberries, lots of rose hips, tar, some herbal tea, anise, black pepper. The palate is refined with dusty tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy red and black cherry fruit mixes well with earth, musk, leather, pepper, anise, spiced cranberry relish. I wasn't sure on this one at all, but through out a 1995 Columbia Valley Syrah as an uncertain blind-tasting guess. Awesome to see that even from a tough vintage, Clos …

Incredible nice and complex for the first hour, then softened and mellowed. That first hour was lovely Clos with mushroom, Cameron funk, light diesel notes, with depth over 45 seconds in your mouth and longevity on the pallete. Still has some life.. Will plan to drink my remaining 2 bottles in the next 2-3 years.

Earth notes lead on the nose, underbrush and tiled soil, with red fruits and wet clay. Dark cherry, pomegranate and rhubarb - fresh with spring flowers, orange rind and brick dust. Soft with bottle age but it retains acidity and is in perfect balance. Superb bottle, happy to be able to enjoy another in the coming few years.

Saturday at the Shack (Willamette Wine Storage, Portland OR) : The nose is wide open and ever so giving. There is a real seamless quality to the deep tones of forrest floor, earth notes, raspberries, herbs, dark red cherries, Clove spices, licorice, cranberries, and violets. This is a nose that is in full flight and showing off a touch of pinot funk along with melded, dark red fruits. The Medium/full bodied feel is refined and elegant with tart, medium+ acidity …

One of the best wines I've had this year. Nothing over the top, just supremely elegant and balanced. Lovely mix of fruit, game and spice on the palate. Amazing balance and length. Words can't do this btl justice.

I agree with Douglee’s note below combined with Aravind’s note about the mushroomy reductive aroma. This was terrific and much better than the six other 2011 OPN’s I have had lately. Lots of life left on these.

minty nose and flat, fruitless taste on the palate. Recorked and put in refrigerator overnight to see what happens but I suspect a faulty bottle. Two nights later, no better. Off bottle.

D1: VA, brett, light red fruits. VA gives the fruit a juicy lift on the palate but it falls off a bit on the finish. D2: High-toned, red currants. Flavorful and juicy mid-palate but VA intrudes and finish comes up a bit short. D4. Darker fruit, tobacco, loam, VA. D6. Holding up better than I anticipated. Tart, juicy, drinkable with sex appeal but for me the combination of VA and brett makes it a flawed wine.

Translucent ruby hue. Soaring nose of red berry, rhubarb, full-blown violets, briar, earthy tones. Dancing layers of red and black raspberry, strawberry, iron granules, and iodine on the palate. Sharp acidity and smoothed tannin leading to a long finish of mouth-watering berry cut with ferric notes, light earth, and just the right amount of funk. Intense but so light on its feet. Delightful.

This needs a bit of time to wake up after opening, at first it was all tart red berries on the nose, but after a few hours the it had turned darker - smokey with notes of caramelized raspberry and strawberry, potpourri, orange and black tea. There's a bounty of red fruit to start - cranberry, raspberry, black currant - and a lovely damp earth quality to the palate, a perfect match to a wet, Oregon winter. This wine, and …

Still very good. But when I think of this Cameron Clos Electrique, I always think of a very specific funk that this does not have. It's very clean, blue fruited, and delicious, and I'm confused by it.

Wow, wow, wow. Pop and pour, but should have decanted. Loads of mushroomy reduction to start, but slowly blew off to reveal intense underlying character. For context drank next to a 2001 Tardy Clos Vougeot Grand Maupertuis (the vines were later returned to Meo-Camuzet and now make up their Clos Vougeot), which also showed very well. However, this was quite simply next level good. On the nose, strawberry and cranberry fireworks, complicated by some mushroomy funk. On the palate, juicy …

Served blind. Spiced, complex nose with a strong sense of stem inclusion. Drinks mature and stemmy. I had a lot of trouble coaxing any fruit expression out of this. It drank more like a 20 year old wine than seven. I put it from France. Guessed maybe a Burgundy from a producer that uses heavy stem inclusion but really hard to pin down. More interesting than pleasurable. I normally enjoy wines like this but it was difficult to appreciate with …

Blind Wines In The OC (The Winery Restaurant in Newport Beach, CA (The OC)) : Poured blind. I was convinced based on the lighter color and particularly the aromatics that this wine was 15-20 years old. While we disagreed at the table between us as to whether it was brett or some other aromatic distinctive quality, for me I found a bit of barnyard/funk that gave it an essence, character. I don't like brett nor want it in my wines …

Cameron Wine Dinner with John Paul (Estadio - DC) : A beautiful wine, still with lots of life ahead. Takes a bit to open up to show smoky tobacco, beef, roses, raspberries, pomegranate. Crisp on the palate, tannins provide plenty of structure, still a youthful core of crunchy red fruit, with some mushroom, earth, iodine and pepper coming out. I'd love to revisit in another three or four years.

Adios, Ripple! (Ripple - Washington, DC) : Still quite young, but another stunning performance from Cameron's Clos Electrique. Aromas of rich earth, tar, tobacco, herbs and grilled meats. On the palate, this shows surprisingly strong tannins but lots of bright acidity. Tangy red fruits laced with lots of herbs, spices, tobacco, grilled meat. Gorgeous stuff, but if I had one in the cellar I'd hold off for another few years.

As backwardly earthy a Cameron that I have encountered. Noticeable bricking. Dusty, sous-bois, and biodynamic-like bouquet. Inviting on the palate. The wine features tremendous acid and substance and pairs well with a range of foods. Subtle, complex, and unmistakably of the earth. 93-94.

When 1st sniffed I thought this was a Pegau cdp all day long. Only they notes of baking soda, funky barnyard and feral notes took me to Cameron. More sous bois on the palate with high toned red fruits. This wine was still very young at 6 yrs old and a pleasure to drink, thanks Motz!

Double decanted. Got to this after it had been open for about 45 minutes. A touch closed at first, but came together well. Showed much more savory than before, and seems to have picked up weight (though, this might just be based on expectations about what 2011s taste like since it's not like I've had a lot of 2011 OPN lately). Great cameron nose: showing a touch of that mushroomy funk to start, this opened into loads of sour cherry …

Crazy Cameron Tasting : Gorgeous aromas, a bit deeper but the fruit is pure and tart (red cherry, pomegranate, tart plums), and I get notes of mossy rocks, loamy soil, tobacco and herbs. Bright acidity purifies this wine, but there are some fine but firm tannins that provide plenty of structure, and the effect is a bold but silky presence on the palate. Funk and Brett overpower the fruit, it may be getting late for this wine. Interesting flavor complexity, but reflective of the '07 vintage in that it is delicate and somewhat light bodied, but that can't stand up to the funky flavors and nose. May have waited a little too long to open.

It's been about 3 years since I last checked in on this wine. I have to say it's lovely. This is light bodied, high acidity, with a floral lift on the nose that sings of high-tones red fruits and roses and fresh tilled earth or forest floor. The palate is all cranberries, pomegranate, wild strawberries, and other high acid or tart red fruits. I think it would be best to check back in on this wine again in 2020. I …
