This 2021 'VV/RR21' from Bouchard's Roses de Jeanne project was enjoyed in Martha's Vineyard with C.V. ahead of a great evening of great wines, great food, and even some Fortnite! I found this bottle at the wine shop near the airport for a whopping $120 and thought to myself - this is a must by. My first interaction with this bottle (VV/R22) was pure bliss and loved the entire drinking experience. On this occasion, I found this bottling to be …

Another solid bottle. Reminder to give this 30min-1hr of air after opening.

Fantastic, but not as electric as other bottles have been over the last two years. Maybe closing down a bit?

Very good; still young; felt maybe a touch sweeter and rounder than some other vintages I've tried, but overall delightful

It's a bit harsh and austere on open, but it gets going with 30 mins of air. The mousse softens out, revealing more sweet stone fruits interlacing with the vinous quality you find in Bouchard wines. Very enjoyable.

Such lovely round texture - always hard to believe it is so low dosage. Love the warmth and depth the barrel aging brings. Delicious as ever.

Powerful nose of lees, chalkiness, white flowers, and lots of ripe apple + red fruits. High acid with palate of ripe apple, red fruits, yogurt, + great minerality

This one has not missed a beat/started to shut down at all. All that beautiful ripe Bouchard fruit, perfect levels of acid, a lingering of flavor that Carrie’s forever. Classic RdJ.

Just as good as expected. Have never had anything but a stellar experience from Bouchard. Great pairing with caviar latkes and beef tartare

white flowers, dialed back on the oxidative notes, high crispy acid, perhaps due to the vintage. But this is not missing any of that zen and calmness that has become the signature of this maker.

This was mind-blowingly good and one of the standouts in this impressive line-up of Roses de Jeanne. Very pure and fresh, with notes of flintstone, herbal notes, white flowers, pure and cool but ripe fruit, some minty tones too. It's medium-full bodied, has pretty high acditiy adding to the electric mouthfeel, the bubbles are fine and excellent quality. Long finish. A great wine from Cédric Bouchard and an excellent start into the evening. (94+). Crazy that this is the sometimes …

Bright yellow; masonry, fruit pits, yeast, dank cellar; creamy, mouth filling wonderfulness. Lowerpressure (4.5 bar) and no doseage add to the mouthfeel. Concentrated (very low yields), slight redux/windex note which I liked. Buvons Roses de Jeanne tasting w/J

2023 disgorgement. This was spectacular, just like the previous two. So good, in fact, I may end up drinking all of mine young while other vintages age, as multiple other people have noted. Exuberant bouquet with lemon, pear, apples nicely framed by some not-quite-salty minerality. Concentrated flavors yet a gentle texture allow them to swirl around your mouth. Apples, pear, lemon yet again. The minerality is more subtle than most VVs, allowing the fruit to take center stage. Medium finish …

Pretty consistent with my notes from last year. Tasted in a flight next to the '19 and '20 and this was mostly driven by citrus; but with backbone of tripical fruit. Lemon peel, passion fruit, wet stone and cheese rind on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas. Palate is pretty fruity with flavors of ripe white peach, ripe pineapple, ripe papaya, ripe melon, fresh baked bread and orange peel. It finishes very bitter in a great way. Medium + …

Medium+ nose of bruised apple, pear, peach, dairy, and wet stone. A bit oxidative upon opening, but that disappeared quickly. Medium+ acidity, creamy and slightly aggressive mousse, and medium+ finish. This felt way too young and not showing much compared to the 2016s I’ve had, so I would let it slumber for at least 2 years.

This is fantastic, blows any big house champagne out of the water. Beautifully balanced, cinnamon toast and lemon on the nose, pear and red apple on the palate, mineral, savory, chuggable. 93-94

R21, disgorged 2023. Just wonderful. Elite tier winemaking. Fresh and perfectly balanced. Poised. Soft and silky texture. On the nose and palate, delicate flavors of macerated red orchard fruit, ripe pink grapefruit, rose petal. Beautiful inner mouth aromatics with each sip. I think this is best to be enjoyed in youth, it's so good now, really not necessary to age these.

The most open and enjoyable VV I’ve had on release, maybe since the 2016? Pear and red fruits, savory and mineral, and the je ne sais quoi that I am always looking for from a bottle of champagne. Showing better than either the 2020 VV or 2018 UR did on release, both BdNs which will need much more time to develop in bottle. Wonderful.

Nice nose with notes of lemon, chamomile, toast, and minerals. Great acidity with similar notes on the palate along with a bit more savory flavors and saline notes. Long finish. This is very good and promising, one of my favorite young Val Vilaines I can remember. The only slight negative is that the bubbles are somewhat aggressive right now, but I feel like that will change with time in the bottle. 94+

Great way to ring in the new year and this was electric. Probably the most tropical fruit I’ve experienced in a champagne ever. Guava, passionfruit, and pineapple with just enough toastiness. Plently of acid for this to go for years but enjoyable now. Way more open and memorable vs my last rdj experience Nose: 93 Palate: 91-92
