Loimer Riesling Seeberg

Riesling Swag 2018 (Vlet Hamburg) : Medium yellow colour. Awesome nose, very calm and balanced, nothing sticking out, still young, but with "hidden complexity", it's not obvious, but you can sense it. Herbs and spices. Also very well balanced in the mouth, deep minerality, good grip, fine acidity, great length on the earthy side again. A real pleasure to drink.

Another great bottle of this: lime, gravel, florality with hints of botrytis; very savory yet not as dry as the back label proclaims it to be ("DRY"). Nice stony salinity; in a perfect place. Drink up.

JohnSh's note and score are right on still. Faint hints of riesling's petrol character and nuttiness of an aged white wine at the tail end of the finish indicate to me that this is at prime or slightly past the crest of "the hill". Drink up. (I will with the few more bottles left.) Was impressed with this producer during a visit to Austrian wine country years ago.

Hazy notes from last night. This was a lovely bright gold in colour, had an intoxicating nose of pears, pineapple and a variety of stonefruits, and a medium-full bodied dry palate with great intensity. This was open for business pretty much from the get-go, but still tasted fresh and youthful. No hurry here, but lovely now (A-).

Loimer tasting with Fred Loimer : Nose of ripe exotic fruits with hints of botrytis. Salty on the palate with some sweetness. Ok balance. Not as elegant.
