Saxon-Brown Zinfandel Fighting Brothers

Last bottle. I echo a prior tasting note. This is a very, very good wine. I just do not understand where all the lower ratings come from.

I echo comments from a bottle consumed last year. For some reason my experience with this wine produces much higher ratings than with other reviewers. I am usually around the middle of the pack of reviewers for most wines.

I seem to be having a better experience with this wine than is the case with other tasters. I put this one on a par with any of the extremely good Zinfandels I have had over the last several years.......most of which have higher price points. I also have a few bottle of the 2018 that I have not tried yet......probably should have bought more bottles than I did. I would describe the drinking experience in one word......Classic.

Too old. Has lost its acid and structure, and is out of balance flabby. Disappointing.

Raspberry and black cherry fruit (with perhaps a hint or orange peel) really come through on the palate without being overly jammy or fruit forward. Aging has likely softened the mouthfeel, fruit and tannin structure on the wine very nicely. Very nice and enjoyable. Clearly an above average, leaning towards exceptional, Zinfandel.

Nose is interesting with dark fruit and rosemary, but it is too ripe and jammy for me on the palate.

Big fruit-driven Zinfandel from the Sonoma Valley. Notes of raspberry, blackberry, 5-spice powder, star anise, potting soil and jalapeno. Full, creamy and rich. Loads of intense raspberry on the palate, with polished tannins that have a bit of firmness to them.

Fruit bomb at a good point. PNP very good w pizza. QPR at $30,

full mature dark fruit ala prune and raspberry - ver round mouth feel, we enjoyed this frankly fresh and deep robust zin. last bottle - now waiting for the 2017.

I had six bottles of a prior vintage.....2014.....and rated those above what most other cellartracker.com reviewers had to say. That is unusual, as I am usually around the average rating from other tasters. Maybe it is a style thing. I see this vintage, 2016, as very similar to the 2014. Also, most of the 2014 bottles were consumed at restaurants, and my tasting notes say all were big crowd pleasers. I await comments from others.
