Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75) : Opaque core with lighter purple rim; spicy, red and dark fruit, ripe, menthol, tarry, plum, chocolate, very dusty, high toned but dense; some cooked fruit on the palate, tannin, higher alcohol, herbs, good density, darker fruit with some red, graphite; mature and in a good spot now; people all over on this but most agreed on variety.

HdV Syrah, Bedrock OV Zin (My Home) : Purple/ruby in color. The nose is very nice with boysenberries, a hint of rosemary and just the slightest bit of raisins. This drinks like a combination of warm and cool vineyards although I am pretty sure it is all from Hyde Vineyard which I thought was in Carneros. On the palate, this back off from the ripeness on the nose. There is great acidity. Lots of red fruit. Still young but starting …

Winery tasting. Wow! A kick butt, cool climate Northern Rhone like Syrah. Very aromatic nose of spicy black fruit, dark plum, cherry, and some unique terroir driven earthy tones. Elegant, classy, and well balanced. One of the best US produced Syrah's I have had in quite a while. Excellent.
