Earthy vintage, a touch dusty, giving TCA impression even if it’s not. Lean. 91

Out of magnum. Up next to a bunch of other great Champagnes mostly out of large format. This was one of my 3-4 wines of the night. Fresher than out of 750ml a couple years ago. Spices, touch of ox, very good acidity. Gained with 1-2 hours of air. Many commented that it was younger than expected.

From Magnum. Ironically, the 2008 Dom seemed open for business and the 1998 came across as young to me. Delicious though. Check back in 2029/30

This was a brilliant bottle of aged champagne that was still tasting very young and I might have guessed less than 10 or so years on it. Trequer note is spot on, as the color was surprisingly light for its age and the intensity of the bubbles was perfect, although I would add I felt there was a tiny touch of savory element like tarragon that made things particularly interesting and I thought it was L- finish. This was better …

The wine looks light gold colored. I expected a deeper, darker color for a 27-year-old wine. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lemon, pear, mineral, and walnut. It tastes like fresh apples, lemon, and brioche. The body is light/medium. The wine has a smooth, creamy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Second one of my stock (and final thankfully) from a different source Same as last bottle - it’s still ok but it’s over the hill and very much in the aged and not providing huge amounts of enjoyment

Drinking the 99 and 98 side by side. The 98 has much more deeper yellow color than the 99. On the nose the 98 is more mature, with notes of honey, light waffle, bread, cofee, a little bit of nuttiness. When it comes to bubbles and foam the 99 is the winner. 1998 Taste of: yellow apples, citrus, orange, mandarin, peach, apricotes, yeast, butter, light oxidation, light wet wood, on the finish comes fresh taste of green apples, 1999 Taste …

Seen better days - quite a soft pop and wasn’t really on form

This was just so good. A brilliant balance of fruit that seemed to verge on tropical, acidity and the brilliant work of age on a great champagne. Pure delight

At 25 years, I wondered what condition this vintage bottle would be in and it was perfect, still at the apex of its drinking profile and showing no signs of diminution whatsoever. This was perhaps the best Champagne I think I’ve ever had - delicious. Deep dark golden color, medium bodied, fine mousse, and complex bouquet and flavors of brioche, yellow apple, pear and hint of peach with touch of mineral, lightly toasted almonds, refined acidity, a creamy mid palate, …

No score as I don't think this was a sound bottle. Sour fruit and more sherry notes than there should be. Tiny bubbles still but clearly this had seen better days.

Good amount of bubbles and energy in the glass. I would rank it a 3 out of 5 in quality. Scent of muscot nut, light cofee, toffee cola nature, a bit nut, honey. Has a very slightly roasted touch, waffles in the background. Taste includes: Minerals, yeast, limestone, very very light tones of cofee, Citrus fruits, fresh red apples. Waterish Pear and peach on the finish. I miss the complexity of the nuttiness, yeastiness and toastiness that a really well …

Fully mature, with a deep golden color, fine mousse, and complex bouquet of brioche, cut apples and almonds. Medium bodied, with surprisingly good acidity, a creamy mid palate, and a long and focused finish. We had this for our 25th anniversary, and I see the only other time I’ve had this vintage was at our 10th anniversary in 2008!

Dinner at Perilla (Chicago, IL) : Mature Dom. Sweet, with an incredibly distinct note of caramel on the nose here. There's a lushness and breadth here that you don't get in grower Champagnes, and I am really here for it. For my palate, a bottle right at peak. Hard to expect much more from this.

Med. dark gold; rich yeasty and nutty nose but in great shape despite quickly dissipating bubbles. Like a nicely aged Burgundy. B&J xmas party

This was a beautiful golden hue with a nose of toasted pineapples and brioche, apricots and walnuts. This continued to evolve in the glass into orange peels and was just powerful and balanced. Well aged champagnes are just so special.

Brought by friends to a dinner. Despite not being stored properly this had refreshing acidity, a decent mousse, lemon nose, developing palate of brioche, game, mushroom and lemon confit. Shortish finish but very elegant and balamced. 93

Popped this baby at a celebratory engagement/wedding prep dinner at Barnsley Gardens. 25 years old and could go another 25. Had with raw oysters which is always the perfect accompaniment. Dark golden color, effervescent, crisp and elegant. Acidity was bright with sweet notes of honey and toasted pastry up front and dry precise finish. Yummy and lovely. Drink or hold.

Jason's birthday : Thought this was a 2004. Surprisingly fresh and crisp for a supposed weaker vintage, broad-shouldered with the typical Dom edge and tension. Orange zest with slightly more restrained fruit than from a top vintage. Despite the naysayers I always prefer Dom to the other grand marques stylistically and for its consistency.

J's Birthday Dinner (Taste Paradise Ion) : Blinded. Oxidative, creamy, mushroom, fine mousse, high acid, flavours of toffee, hazelnut, apricot, earth and long finish. Drinking nicely now.

PNP at the restaurant. Great nose with yeasty, stone fruit, yellow fruit and slightly floral. Palate is balanced, round and elegance with nice acidity and depth. Mature enough to drink but no rush.
