Incredibly alluring and sensual nose of red fruits, violets and baking spices, leaps out of the glass. Elegant and silky texture, light to medium bodied, a persistent red fruit core at perfect ripeness, a wisp of tannins, filigreed acidity is discreet. This is really singing at the moment, and the silky cool entry is beautiful. 13% ABV, a cracking bottle of Chambolle.

The Les Sentiers vineyard is adjacent to Bonnes Mares. This bottle was a recent release, ex-cellar. Aromatic nose, with sous bois, ripe strawberry, hint of spice. Dense core of fruit which immediately made me go to see if this was from the Bonnes Mares side of Chambolle. Some iron, sour cherry, mid-bodied tannins and fine acidity. Dried herbs and minerals on a long finish. Can see this ageing for a few more years yet, feel that this has a bit …

One of the last wines of the tasting. No notes only "beautiful." Very nice bottle of wine.

Medium color, muted nose, thin mid palate, and tannic finish that is probably typical but not my style.

Light ruby red. Fresh, minerally and bright on the nose. Delicate palate with a lot of flavor impact surrounded by a light, unobtrusive framework of oak. Nice acidity, the only faults seem to be a lack of tannins (ageability?) and a slightly watered down feel on the lenghty finish. The excellent "iron fist in a velvet glove" sensation overcomes these nitpicks. Good wine from an interesting new producer. I'm holding on to the rest to see what happens with some …

2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration: Pasport to Pinot (McMinnville, Oregon) : Light strawberry scents on the nose, but little else. Pretty straightforward here. The wine is well made with nice structure, but the palate doesn't contain much more flavor than the light strawberry hinted at on the nose. The acid is decent, but over all, the wine seems pretty closed.

2009 International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) Passport to Pinot (McMinnville, OR) : Very light nose. Not getting much at all, expect maybe some strawberry. Tart on the palate with tannins building. Kind of woody finish, building tannins, with a bit of animale. Quite tight, and I think this may be closing down, though it is smooth and graceful. Very firm tannins, a bit bitter, almost a bit green. I think this is at an awkward phase here. 20 years from …
