Domaine Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Terre de Pierre

Tasted over 2 hrs -translucent light/med gold -heady lees-y -med gentle acidity, med/med- weight tangy shell surrounds complex brown spice lees-y faint oak, good length -very good with some early mature notes but by no means tired, a bit more complex than Pepiere's Briords

Final bottle was really on form - no worry about fading, this was drinking beautifully. Shows how muscadet can develop over the years. No point holding any longer. Pale gold Clean nose, medium intensity aromas - lemon, green apple, iodine, waxy, honey, nutty. Fully developed. Dry palate, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium (+) body, lots of extract, medium (+) intensity flavours, long finish.

This has evolved significantly since the last tasting 5 years ago. Tertiary flavours more to the fore, but still with some fruit. I wonder if it is starting to fade now. Usually a big fan of their wines but this was a bit anonymous and generic white. Will try again

Has aged well. Creamier than when was younger, still good acid and lemon with maybe a little melon and salinity.

Tasted over 3 hrs -translucent light gold-green -pretty floral honeydew melon pear faintly waxy -barely med acidity, med weight focused mildly bitter lees-y faded melon fruit, moderately long finish -early maturity

This was shockingly broad, full of clay, and textural with some wood. I would never have guessed Muscadet.

Lemon green. Clean nose, medium intensity aromas - lemon, green apple, iodine, waxy, honey, nutty. Developing. Dry palate, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium (+) body, lots of extract, medium (+) intensity flavours, long finish. Outstanding, can be drunk now, suitable for further ageing. This is NOT your typical muscadet!

This Muscadet. Dry, fruity, stony.

-translucent light bright gold -subtle pretty floral -med- acidity only shows up near finish, med weight not much distinct fruit but this possesses subtle power in the stony sappy extract that slowly builds to an intense finish -a serious muscadet

Another great showing. Sad to only have 2 bottles left -- do not touch again until after 2021.
