Friedrich Becker Pinot Noir Schweigen

Last tasted in June 21 (see note) when I scored it 88 and felt it needed 5 years. It is certainly more approachable, but not there yet. One point more, but patience still required.

I had high hopes for this wine, but was rather disappointed - not that there's anything wrong per se: it's well made, clean, long, very clearly German pinot. It's just a bit boring and dull?

Very good pinot noir. Old world style. A reliable producer.

Ruby, fairly floral and a bit dense on the nose. Medium body, red berries, same density as suggested by the nose but balanced with adorable acidity. Lovely pinot noir.

Corked

Lovely, earthy with dried fruit. A bit richer in style than expected but on the mineraly, flinty end of the pinot scale.

Offering a lot. My first Becker, starting with a very clear precise sour cherry note and absolutely fully integrated round taste, offering perfect balance. Then the wood starts to join the game with vanilla at the beginning. Some hours later in the bottle it still offers a lot of cherry, raspberry combined with different wood flavors like cigarbox and juniper. Wahnsinnig schöner, kirschiger Pinotduft. Recht viel Kraft, deutliches Tannin, Eisen, Blutorange, rote Beeren, durchgehend viel Power. Lakritz, Länge.

Youthful and tight. This will I think be very good, but certainly needs time. I'd give it 5 years personally. 88 for now.

Konzentrierter und kräftiger als der Pinot Noir „B“. Allerdings noch dominate Säure und damit etwas anstrengend.
