Needs air. Very shy until you give it some air. 30 mins to an hr. until it really develops. On the tart red fruit side this bottle was. Developed nicely after the oxygen. Make sure you have some fat to go along with this wine.

bottle 2. babied my palate all day and set this up for success by pairing with roast pork seasoned with fennel seed/oregano/garlic. Nose: still great. perfuse. obviously ripe but very pretty enticing. and alcohol present alongside oxidation, but neither is a sore thumb. would peg as older ripe nebbiolo Palate: absolutely nothing going on. nothing bad but that's it. no acid. dissolved tannin. indistinct ripe fruit. not flawed but not good! food: knock yourself out! there's nothing to ruin :/ …

almost lost the cork! perfect condition bottle but the lower bit of the cork is well saturated and began to give. beautiful translucent brown tinged with ruby. nose is intense and so perfect! rose, rich strawberry, anise and mature fruit. very clean but showing age. still has bite and verve! beautiful and looking forward to following this throughout the evening! Palate on pnp is lacking compared to nose and color. alcohol also needs to blow off Evening= now my palate …

Had this with a duck- rustic with some pine needles on the nose, opened up a bit after decanting for about an hour.

Drinking nicely here. Solid acidity and good fruit with secondary and tertiary notes on the Nies Andre back palate. I was afraid to decant, but I think it would’ve handled it, because the wine improved after 30 minutes of slow ox.

Decanted off the moderate-plus sediment and given monitored air time. In the glass brick red with some orange and tawny hues. Definitely showing the age in the appearance of this wine. On the nose this is somewhat reserved but has opened a little with air time. Aromas of dried rose petals and black tea mingle with notes of Autumn leaves, sous bois, forest floor, crushed walnut shell, dried red fruits, dried orange peel and notes of dusty leather and spice …

Black tea and some nutmeg on the nose. This wine is dark and dirty. Has a peanut brittle thing going on here. A hint of truffle and earth. Leather and spice. This wine is still quite alive. But definitely trending to darker fruit and a darker presence. I think the best years are right upon us.

Another bottle from the same source in Alba that’s oxidised. drinking like a great ‘fino’ from Jerez but not what a well kept 30 year old Barbaresco from a good producer should be like. Gutted.

Superb. Not on it's way out but maybe 3-4 years of life left in it at its current drinking life. Trifola d'Alba dinner - Austin. Excellent match.

Reserved. Shy. Give plenty of air. Classic Barbaresco roses, crushed rocks, and dried savoury herbs.

A Piedmont Night : Stood up for several weeks and decanted off sediment for 5 hours then back into bottle. Aromas were still tight when we started to drink which was about 7 hours after it was initially opened. With more air and time, ripe cherry aromas with flowers, roses, herbs, tobacco and hints of caramel and balsamic vinegar. Palate had nice dried red and black cherries, flowers, herbs and earth. Also with prominent tannins on mid palate with excellent …
