Olarra, Cerro Anon Reserva, Rioja

Very mature, showing leather jacket, old furniture, walnut oil, mushrooms. A tiny bit of orange peel sweetness pokes through. Very enjoyable with dinner but gets a little bony and timeworn when tasted alone.

45 min decant again. Agree with my last note. this was right on the money, but definitely late drinking window. Alcohol just starting to show. Mostly secondary fruits. Hasn't turned sour like some other overly oxidized riojas in cellar. Drink over next 2-5 years.

Flawless. Sweet and spicy itself, this made a phenomenal pairing with yellow Thai curry with veggies and tofu, with kalbi (Korean BBQ shortribs) on the side.

Blew away expectations. This was the quality of an incredible aged Bordeaux. Ethereal, balanced, completely integrated, NOTHING harsh, deep with gently intense fruit—fresh, mature, and dried. No bitterness or ascerbency. The definition of resolved. Drink now- 2029.

Notes of old socks and rot. Slight meaty flavor before inducing vomit. Totally spoiled. Wet and moldy cork.

Phenomenal. A lot of earth notes on the nose, dirty mushrooms predominantly, but with some dried herbs and cherries on the nose. It was consumed over a 2+ hour period of time and continued improving. The palate was much different than the nose with loads of complexity. Lively red fruits, herbs, tobacco. The texture was pure satin and the finish was long and complex. A memorable wine.

Popped and poured, consumed over next 90 minutes. Wonderful nose. I could have been happy just sniffing this all night and the show continued on the palate delivering on all the nose promised. Excellent intensity, earthy, perfectly ripe fruit, in its drinking plateau, beautiful balance, seamlessly complex, weightless and elegant, expanding, lengthy finish. Lovely.

WineBerserkers Iberian Peninsula Tasting (Alegria's) : Fantastic nose with red fruit, spice, forest floor, slight green; palate is medium bodied, smooth, slight bitterness; medium finish. I like the nose better than mine, but my palate better than this one. 92

SF Berserkers—Spanish Wines Offline (Alegrias, SF) : Medium minus body with slightly elevated alcohol. Riper than its sister vineyard (we tasted both vineyards in the ’82 vintage), but slightly dominanted by wet dog (Brettanomyces) and manure (also probably due to Brett). Lovely in the mouth - elegantly balanced with soft tannins. Score: Between 8.5 and 9.

Fairly pale color. Wax and incense in the smell. Taste is a surprise. There's a sharpness that fades away into a very enjoyable balanced fruity and earthy taste. Hibiscus, cherry. A classic old Rioja.
