This was starting to show a bit of age. Improved with air time and blew off some of the dusty tertiary notes. Still this should be a long-living wine. This is a holiday tradition wine at our house the last ten years.

Fantastic. I just love this vineyard for Cab from Stonestreet. The 2012 was much more in business this time around. Dark fruits, blackberry, plum, spice cake, some wet stone notes. More polished on the palate. Great tannin structure and balance of acidity. This feels like a baby even at 12 year mark. Wish I had more, but these just continue to be extremely age-worthy cabernets.

Cork. 14.5% alc. Decanted - plenty of sediment. Black fruits like blackberry, plum. Olive. Smoke. Touch of baking spice. Red pepper, tomato leaf and bell pepper. Medium to full bodied, with good richness and drive. Rounded, integrating tannins. Drinks well with a 30 minute decant.

Scorched earth, chipotle/peppers, tobacco, aged leathery and chewy fruit. Did not decant, but it was nonetheless incredible right from the beginning. Exceptional wine with immense character that seems to just be entering its prime; might have improved a bit with another ~5 years of cellaring.

Definitely a cab but not my favorite. My wife liked it more than me.

Enjoyed with left over prime rib. Decanted for an hour and found it well balanced with rich green pepper and pepper corn.

A year later my note from last year still remains true - Christmas tradition. This wine continues to impress me. Each year just continues to evolve and be fantastic. Given an hour of air in bottle aromas begin to leap from the glass. One of the best Rockfall vintages IMO. Consumed the bottle over the evening with a prime rib.

Have come to appreciate aged wines more after some time in Bordeaux recently. This wine was excellent, muted fruit with secondary and tertiary flavors. Took it a few minutes to settle in after opening, decanted in a narrow base decanter. Wish I had more.

WIML93 Tasted non blind. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of lavender, cassis, black pepper, dried herbs and black cherries. Flavors of cassis, plums, currants and raspberries. Medium acidity, firm tannin, full bodied. Drink now with air or hold a little longer.

Opened after a 2009 Stonestreet Christopher's that was delightful. A bit of a letdown. Young by comparison. Still fruit forward and no sight of tertiary flavors. Tannins still not well integrated. Hands off second cellared bottle for at least a couple of years.

Notes of cherry, fig, blackberry, and vanilla on first sniff....swirl it a bit more and it opens up to add more fruit like strawberries. Fantastic with NY Strip steak dinner it was paired with.

This is my guilty pleasure. I just love this big but balanced and even restrained cab. And at 11-years still tastes young.

First of three drank with grilled beef tenderloin. Still fairly primary. Seems to have the stuffing's to improve so I believe this will be better with a bit more cellar time.

Three hour decant. Bright, but very very deep magenta color. Black cherry, watermelon Jolly Rancher, cocoa powder, bay leaf, and subtle sarsaparilla on the nose. Very smooth, dry palate, with soft, tongue coating acidity. Firm, but low intensity tannins on the longish finish.

Splash decanted courtesy of Mary and Barry and raising money for the Alzheimer's Association. Still a stong wine....good color, virbant nose of oak and dark red berries. Palate is heavy, vanilla/oak laden, some tobacco, too. Has more years ahead of it given the acidity present. Better with an hour or two of air when decanting.

(5/5) - Dark Ruby with the slightest orange at the rim. Color is holding up well. (13/15) - Again, holding well at 10 years of age. Mountain fruits, clove, baking spice, mountain sage, wet stone. (17/20) - Tannin integration is very good right now. Still a touch acidic which could get even better with further aging. Carries the fruit, some tobacco, and spice on the palate. (8/10) - Pleasantly surprised at how well this is doing after a decade. No …

This is a well produced higher end Cabernet. There are supple aromatics of blackberry fruit and tobacco leaf. On the palette the fruit presence is robust with immediate black cherry leading to plum and cedar wood. Finish lingers with an almost vegetable presence and cigar ash. Worth the price of admission at about $ 100.

I love this Alexander Valley mountain wine. A consistently fantastic wine that is a relative bargain compared to many of similar quality just a short drive down the Napa side. This vintage is a bit lighter ruby in color than others but it has gorgeous aromas of red fruit, holiday baking spice, coffee, green tobacco and some vanilla. This is in a bit of a stranger stage compared to my last bottle a few years ago but should continue to …

4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (M&R's) : Double blind. Opens with a weird chemical/plasticy quality, something along the lines of a new rubber ball. That eventually fades enough to allow herbs, black fruit and plum to dominate. Medium tannins. Good. T&L.

A very expressive and deep Cabernet Sauvignon. A deep purple color with fragrance of oak, gravel, and pipe tobacco. A robust blackberry, tart cherry, with chamomile, charcoal, and mineral finish. A young wine that will stand tall for several years. 95 points.

Brought to Ruth's Chris for dinner with friends. Seemed like it could have used a longer decant than the 30 mins or so it got via slow ox at the restaurant once we popped the cork. On the nose blueberry, black berry and bell pepper. Taste was similar but bell pepper was replaced by black pepper, some vanilla and relatively smooth tannins. Smelled more disjointed than in tasted. I don't have another bottle but if I did I'd wait at …

2010 Rockfall is my favorite of recent vintages. Still a gorgeous purplish ruby on this. Cassis, currant, blackberry, black cherry, baking spices and some pine scent still remains. Drinking well now but will continue to be a great cellar option.

Very solid wine. Similar to a Napa cab, ripe, purple, but with much smoother tannins and a nice depth of flavor. I opened this too soon. Would hold for another year or two. A little bit of heat, which might fade with more time. Overall, impressed.

A lot of years ahead of it. Aromas of blueberry, berry cobblers, bell pepper, holiday baking spices, vanilla and mocha. Medium round tannin's with strong blueberry, black pepper and still some oak on the palate. These wines tend to need some bottle time, and this is no exception.

Appearance: The wine was a mostly opaque purple, with transition from garnet to ruby towards the rim. Aroma: This wine had both the cleanest and most complex character in the lineup, constantly evolving over an hour or more. The aroma opened with bay laurel and blackberry bramble, supported by components of violet and sage. As the wine developed in the glass nuances of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, vanilla, and brown sugar presented. Layered beneath the other aromatics were mineral characteristics …

A restrained and dark mountain Cabernet that is drinking well at the moment. Dark purple in color, medium in body, nose of charcoal and leather. Tastes of black cherry, boysenberry, pencil lead, cedar, and tar, with a rustic finish that balances tannin and acidity well. 14.5% alcohol. This should appeal to those who look for more Old World characteristics in their CA reds (e.g., herbs, tart fruit, medium body, rustic tannins), though I confess to not being among this group. …
