Thirty minute double decant. Very deep dark ruby magenta color. Blackberry, cassis, blueberry, cola, thyme, and subtle funnel cake. Smooth, dry palate Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. Brought to Christmas Eve dinner with the in-laws. Everyone enjoyed it.

PNP. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, blueberry, chocolate, and browned butter. Smooth, dry palate, with good acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish. This ‘19 is an especially good QPR. The ‘21 may eventually give it a run for its money. Drank with friends as a pre-game before a party in Houston that will likely have poor wine.

Blackberry, Mesquite, graphite, earth and hints of vanilla and coffee beans on the nose follow-through to a rich, full-bodied, dark-fruited palate with mouthwatering acidity and long finish. This is still young and primary although provides considerable pleasure with an extended decant. The half a bottle left for day 2 was rocking.

Two hour decant. Very very deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, boysenberry, dark chocolate mousse, crushed walnuts, nectarine, subtle slate, and very subtle coffee. Dry, crushed velvety palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. Very ripe fruit. Nicely structured easy drinker. Not dramatically better than their wine shop CS that is less than half the price.

This wine has calmed considerably since a year ago. It seems pretty Napa without the bravado and pretense. Deep and dark and lush. Black fruit flavors, smooth mouth feel, lengthy finish. Earlier, the alcohol was a factor, but not so much now. It seems like Napa wines at this price point should strive to be. Pretty damn yummy.

One hour decant. Plum, pistachio fondant, vanilla cream, wild strawberry, and cocoa. Smooth, dry palate. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. This is one of those better Cabs for under $100. The white label bottling is for restaurants primarily, although middle men sellers get an allocation. It’s not sold through the winery.

2 hour decant which wasn't enough as this steadily improved over the course of 3 hours . Bt the end of the evening it became a really nice wine. Cassis and dark fruits with a touch of bell pepper. I would say this needs another 4 or 5 years in a cellar or a 4 hour decant. 89 when opened 93 at the end of the night.

A generous gift from Winedog1 that I have been waiting for the right moment to try. Reminds how much I love a big Napa CF!! Big plush fruit, plums and berries, but layers of savory herbs and graphite. Really balanced and delicious. We decanted for 4 hours and drank over 2 without much change. Saved back a glass for tonight and I will update if it is significantly better or worse.

30 minute decant before dinner, could have used a bit longer. Dark, deep black and fed fruits, black cherries, blackberries, bakers chocolate. Came across more savory, with distinct chalkiness, compared with earlier bottles. Plush tannins, decent finish. Drinking well in the moment, not sure that this gets any better with time.

90-minute decant. Very very deep intense magenta color. Belgian waffle, raspberry, pomegranate, coffee-infused caramel, and parchment. Smooth, dry, slightly dusty palate, with fine acidity. Plush tannins on the longish finish. This is a terrific QPR. It’s equivalent to Double Diamond at a lower price. Very easy drinker, with excellent structure for the price point.

Drinking really well now. It’s a beautiful, huge wine that is 2x-3x more “polished” than the Sinegal Select Cab. Dark fruit, beautiful nose, long finish, deep ruby color. Needs to be popped 3 hours and left in glass for 20-30 minutes for it to really start to shine. Venturi wasn’t too aggressive and helped it along. Give me French Oak like this any day. This is an excellent wine which is still young and holding lots in reserve. Dark fruit, earth, vanilla and graphite with tannins still to be better integrated. I am planning to hold my remaining bottles for another 3 to 5 years.

Monday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind. Very ripe, modern Napa cab (yes, there were pyrazines here but not enough to make me think cab franc), but made in a way with plush and very ripe black fruit as well as oak that isn't bitter at all. For the style, very, very well made -- this is some seriously impressive stuff -- but it's just too fruit forward and high-octane for my taste.

2023 Napa; 2/5/2023-2/9/2023 (Napa with a connection in Houston) : Lots of stuffing here. Still primary, but somewhat restrained. Wine is good, and approachable. This is a bottle with silkyness and a polished texture. With hints of blueberry, and hints of chocolate. The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. . The body is light/medium.
