[Tasted double blind at Kevin's] Immediately thought Italy, Nebbiolo, but went for Barbaresco over Barolo. Others thought this bottle may have been slightly flawed (minuscule TCA muting the fruit), but I still enjoyed it somewhat. Fruit intensity is lacking, but still very tannic and acidic, development of tertiary notes, leather, saddle, dried roses, tar. Definitely could improve with better showing of fruit.

Color teja de capa media. Nariz expresiva con toques de fruta licorosa, algunos tostados, matices especiados, monte bajo. En boca tiene buen ataque, paso fluido, tanino pulido y bien integrado, acidez media, buena longitud. Sorprendió la delicadeza de su paso por boca. Cata 286 Penya La Verema

Beautiful colour. Bright garnet with bronze edging. A lovely nose of alpine herbs and roses. Tastes of rose oil, sour cherries, almonds and fennel. Excellent balance at this stage of its life; the tannins have settled and are not harsh, rather they drive a lovely minerality on the palate. Into the drinking zone for me, but probably a decade ahead of it. A nice Barolo that goes even better with food.

Beautiful translucent color. Nose of fresh spring flowers. Palate shows elegance and class with its deft balance of red fruits and perfect lilt mouthfeel that seems quite sexy for it's price. Some soft strawberries reveal as it sits and gets swirls as does some great pure rose-hips. This has a long and vibrant finish. An amazing deal at $31. Glad I have 4 more.

Strikingly more elegant than the powerful 2013. This has a much more floral, delicate nose, despite the youth on the palate. Decent for a couple of hours & you might just be able to enjoy this now, but better in a decade.

Very pale ruby on appearance. The nose is full of rose (mostly dried pedals) and strawberry, almost perfumy. The flavours have good intensity yet quite soft at the same time. The only major flaw is the lower-than-expected acidity. Otherwise it's a very welcoming wine.

This wine has a very good balance in its structure which is currently more than you can about the palate. The taste is heavily dominated by licorice and initially it is nice and clean but after one glass you have had enough. Certainly this will balance out with time and fundamental wine-making and structure is fine so this is one to watch or consume in small doses now.

(BBR Italy 2016) :: Expressive and perfumed. Rich and opulent with rose, cherry, raspberry and tobacco leaf. A biggish mouthfeel; pronounced and slightly chalky tannin. Lovely; persistent finish. Hold.

Precise, good ripeness of fruit, spicy, floral. On the palate slightly mineral with ripe fruit, gentle tannic grip, fine length. Very good. 90-91+
