Ossian Vinas Viejas Blanco

Medium yellow colour. Ripe pear, ripe peach, ripe pineapple, oak spice, vanilla, and underlying minerality, with a creamy texture and very good length. Full-bodied, ripe, oaky, creamy, and mineral. The medium acidity only shows on the finish and lends some freshness. The wine showed well on day one, in particular after 30 minutes of aeration and paired with food, yet became bitter and a little tired by day two. Drink now and over the medium term.

Terroir-istes International - Spain, Castilla y Leon (Overgaauw Wine Estate) : (Tasted Blind): Pale to mid-yellow colour. Some developed and savoury notes on the bouquet, reminiscent of twiglets, over toasted bread and desiccated almonds before being joined by chalk, wet soil and poached pear, plus a light floral note. The entry offers a fresh acidity with fair intensity and notes of white pepper, celery salt, peach and sea salt. Some breadth to the mid-palate is unexpected, but its slightly grippy …

Hvite blomster, nøtter, stein på nese. Oljete I munn, nesten Voksaktig. Hvite blomster, nøtter, smør, bivoks, mineraler en mellomting mellom Nord-Rhone og hvit sentralburgund. Lang og dyp. Kunne hatt noe mere syre. 91

Very old vine Verdejo (60% prephylloxera!), barrel aged and fermented. Coravin sample. Needs about 20-30 min in the glass to open up, and keeps going for quite some time after. Quite precise with good ageing potential. Primary fruit is beginning to subside. I'd be tempted to leave it till 2022-2026. One of my favourite Spanish whites, and one of the world's best value age-worthy whites.
