Q4 - 2016 Tasting - Anything Goes Theme (New York, NY) : #20 of 22 wines tasted blind, although I actually drank this last as word was that this was a desert wine. Seemed like a fortified desert wine on tasting as it was both very sweet and high in alcohol. To be fair, this type of wine is not in my wheelhouse so my ability to judge quality is very limited. Bottle drawn 4/28/1983. Dense as used motor oil, lots of egg nog spice, but extremely sweet and milky, almost nauseatingly so. Hard to enjoy and I like PX.

Second Sunday Group: 2003 vs 2005 Bordeaux 2nd Labels (R&D's) : Bottle #2,113, drawn on 10/10/1982. Brown in color with aromas of toffee, nutmeg, roasted walnuts and baked pear. Amazingly thick and viscous, pours more like a syrup than a wine. Flavors of toffee, roasted nuts and molasses. I enjoyed this, but one small pour was plenty.

Opaque bricking red violet color with red orange meniscus; saline, dried black fig, salty plum, prune nose; viscous, dried fig, Fig Newton filling, prune, iodine palate with low acidity; long finish (17% alcohol)

Raisin, egg nog, espresso, liquid chocolate. Immense and penetrating without cloying. A venerable competitor for any dessert. Wow.
