First taste before decant - Reticent nose, but came around with a vigorous swirl. Black cherries, a dose of funk, and a bit of dust. On the palate - very smooth and round mouthfeel, unusual for a syrah (to me). Thick, maybe fat. More merlot-like. Big cherry taste upfront, with some sweet spices.
